PI Alpha or Omega?

Do I need to be Omega clone to use the Planetary Interation things?

Short answer: Not really.

Longer answer: As an alpha you can only access one planet, all the skills to do more require omega. As an alpha you can't export goods to a customs office, which means to get things off the planet your only option is to build a launch pad and rocket truck the things into space 500m3 at a time where you can pick them up with a hauler.

I assumed they allowed alphas to do this with the PI changes in the recent update? IIRC before, it was all omega-only skills.

I can’t really say what it used to be. When OP asked, I logged in a char and tried to see what I could do. Then looked into it on the main forums.

The export button on my alpha alt was locked behind an omega upgrade prompt and at least three of the five skills require omega to train.

Ah ok, in that case yeah they did definitely change it around from being a purely omega-clone activity because previously the skills used to be only omega. Yay, accessibility!
