How do you avoid instant death on arrival at gas sites in wormhole space....

Can anyone help me with some advice please.

I have just started exploring wormhole space (CLASS 1) and want to mine gas sites.

I am using a venture with no cloak and so far at 2 out of 3 sites I have been instant deathed on warping to a scanned down gas site, despite warping to within 70km...

How do I know if their are turrets protecting gas sites before arriving as its to late when I arrive to warp away from them to stop them killing me.

I do use the D-SCAN but again the sites are to far away to scan before arrival...

Hopefully im being stupid and there is something simple im not doing....

Well you need a combat ship to get ride of them. Every gas site has turrets.

i liked to use a vexor navy whit sentry drones to destroy the turrets.
You need a BC like a drake or a brutix whit a good tank.
No idea if a gnosis can do the job.

I'm not sure if a T1 crusier can handle the dps. i still remember overhating my reps and hardeners of my vexor navy and emptied every time the cap boster i used. It was fun.

Some of them done have turrets. They have a murder squad (at least for a venture) of ships that spawns sometime after you warp to the site.

^this. I also did some 'ninja' gas harvesting and the rats spawn after a few minutes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Td0EnccM5AQ so if there are already rats in the sites I guess someone was there before you. I also recommend staying right in the cloud that you are harvesting as gas clouds will decloak ships. just in case someone tries to sneak up on you.
