EVE Online

I have succesfully broken my EVE.
Well damn. I think its broken.

I quit EVE for like a year, im just now getting back into it, and:
At first it would launch like normal, but it would sit in the "LOGIN SUCCESFUL, PROCESSING BULK DATA" screen forever.

So then I verified the cache... It was missing some files so it reinstalled them: Game worked.

Then I went to go get some food and came back, EVE was clsoed and had a 7.4GB update.
I guessed it was missing a bunch of stuff (Despite nothing missing when I was playing ingame).
I let it run.
It finished, I played. Game worked great.

I just launched my EVE again, it had ANOTHER 7.4GB update. Verifying the cache removed it.
Game worked great.

I just launched it up again, another 7.4GB update. And even verifying wouldn't remove it.
So I enabled "Download everything" and "Launch pinned account on launcher start".

Closed launcher, Relaunched the launcher (heh), EVE launched. No issue.

Its kinda pulling downloads out of its ass and its anoyying to work around.
It clearly doesnt need it since it does it everytime I launch EVE and I can play just fine without it.

Point being: any fix for this? Getting sick of seeing a 7.4GB update everytime I launch. What do I do when an actual update rolls around lol.

You could try uninstalling EVE from Steam and redownloading the client from the EVE Online website. Steam has a history of strange effects on cliented games. As long as you don't delete cache afterwards logging in shouldn't be difficult.

If you lose the cache by accident you can always login to the account management page through your steam details and give the account proper non-steam login credentials, if you haven't already. The advantage of this is two-fold in my experiance: first is it lets you easily login to the account management page and the main forums, and second it lets you take advantage of some of the non-steam deals that CCP puts out while maintaining the access to steam's deals.

You should purge the launcher cache:
Your hard disk > Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > Eve Online > Launcher.

Delete the whole launcher file or put it in another location if your are cautious. Having a brand new launcher may help in this matter.

The logic is that Launcher cache is different from the the "verify integrity of downloaded files and purge extra files" you did before since it only concerns the game files. Your launcher may be broken, and it's not something that is self repairing; and also reinstalling the game will not delete those files therefore not provide this type of cleaning.

Bon courage.

Got the same problem with non-steam Eve. I'm now reinstalling the game. Hope it works. :/ Haven't played for 3 months, which isn't THAT long.
