What is human and what is NPC?

When I look at my dscan, how do you know what is a human player and what is an NPC?
Someone said look at the icos, but I don't see any icons like the ones that show up on ships in overview. No flashy or anything.

For example, I see "Ducia Foundry Bestower | Bestower" on my dscan. I google Ducia Foundry and it says it is a NPC corperation. Is it an NPC then? Or is it a human being?

You can't see NPCs on d-scan.

I certainly see thier wrecks. For exmaple "Pithi Demolisher Wrech"

Wrecks, yes, but not living NPCs.

Double check me, but I believe the Ducia guys are NPCs connected to the new mining operations.

This isn't entirely true anymore. Drifters in wormholes and the new npc mining ops can be seen on dscan I believe.

Ah, the mining ops came after I stopped playing. I guess it makes sense to show the ones that emulate player behavior.
