Bought PLEX with an old account
Is it possible to get a refund? I bought a PLEX with an older account thinking it would work, but appearently subbing to EVE and buying plex is only okay if you're account was made in 2013 or something. Mine was made in 2010. Still not sure how I was even able to buy PLEX in the first place, and STEAM won't let me refund because it's an in game item. Am I just screwed out of my $20, and my PLEX? :(

Alpha needs to come in here and tell us whether the new F2P system means that people like OP can force the Steam-EVE integration system to create a Steam-bound account for them. I imagine that permanently removing the current instance of EVE from your Steam account might do this, but I'm not sure.

Not sure what the issue is. Can you provided some clarification? Did you buy the plex through steam and tried to redeem it on a non steam account? Buy it on Steam and tried to redeem it on a steam account?

Have you tried making a new alpha account redeem the plex to that account and then contract it to the account you want to use it on? Since Alpha accounts are free, this may be the quickest option for you.

I think the issue is that people who had EVE in their Steam libraries before June 2013 don't have Steam-integrated EVE accounts.

Yeah the steam integration is messed up with old accounts. I still get the same launcher error every day through steam 'that it is trying to create an account' while I have a 2009 EVE account on steam.

Try using the permanent removal function, and then download it again. Shouldn't affect you in any way if it doesn't work since it's free now.

I can login dispite the message I get on the launcher, but i'm sure I would run in the same problem as OP if I would try to sub/plex through steam.

I would be curious what would happen if I did a permenant delete and redownloaded it. All of my current accounts are non-steam anyways. Let me get back to you guys on the result.

I've been an eve player since ~launch. I've been un-subbed for the past 2, maybe even 3 years. I was just able to launch eve through steam and log into my original account with no issues O_o

Ah I gotcha, Yes, in steam I did just install it recently though I DO still have the original client installed somewhere here as well

Hmm, I think will just reinstall EvE too and see if that fixes my issues too. Fresh install might do the trick after all.

***CAN CONFIRM***

If you have an old account and you want access to the new features, you MUST delete the game and redownload it. Fortunately for me my super old character was only a trial back in the day. Nothing of value was lost, now I just need to see if I can get the PLEX I bought.

I bought the PLEX with a steam EVE account that was older than the June 4th, 2013 date. So really I'm not sure what happened to the PLEX, but I was able to redownload the game and get a free account which fixed my steam account issue. Now I just don't know what happened to the PLEX i bought. I have filed a ticket with CCP to see if they can help.

Oooh i thought maybe you had an eve online (before steam) account.

I myself have two accounts, a newer steam made account, but i could simply add the old one aswell in the launcher, so far no problems.

But no idea how it works with an older steam made account from before 2013.

Just to clarify, my old even account pretty much predates steam :P its from 2005 yet i could add it and everything is working, it even recognised the fact that 1 account was alpha, the other omega, so i couldnt run both account or rather alpha/omega chars. together.

If you don't see the PLEX when you log into the newly-created, Steam-bound EVE account, then this whole system is an even bigger mess than I thought.
