Alpha and Omega status?
Hi guys, I am a new player. I really love playing EVE. I just finished all my tutorial and doing agent mission. I was just wondering all that ship which is accessible only to Omega clone, I am thinking if I upgrade my account to Omega from Alpha and what happen after 30 days is over? Can I still use those ships in alpha mode or do I have to renew Omega status.

Alright, first, do ALL the career agent missions. Lots of free stuff there.
Second, after 30 days, you either PLEX or resub your account.
Third, no, if you go back to Alpha, you are 'relimited' to T1 ships(nonfaction) and to a 1 day skill queue.
If you don't think you can maintain a sub, I would recommend getting all you can out of Alpha before getting Omega status so you have the best chance to farm enough ISK to start PLEXing your account.
Basically, get all your support skills trained that you can.
These are skills that will apply to most or all ships and fits you would likely use.
Then get your more specific but relevant for your play style 'core' skills.
These will allow you to get more out of the ships/fits and interactions you use in game.

These are fairly 'universal' skills: https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Support_Skills
While these are also important, but more specialized: https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Core_Skills

Take what skills you can to their Alpha max(3/4).

Start salvaging the f out of sites. Make friends with guys doing lvl4 and up combat sites and carrier ratters and get them to let you mop up behind them. Your race will determine what fit is best for this. Minmatar can use a Thrasher with some salvagers and a few other parts to make a handy salvager.

Then, when you reach your peak as Alpha(ship/skill blocked), start considering paying for 3 months of Omega. This should give you enough time to either make your fortune in Null(13-20Mil ticks in anomalies) or really kick it up on the salvage front.

Honestly, you should be trying to get into an Alpha friendly corp that will help you learn to play, skill up right, make ISK, and guide you on how to transition to Omega.

If paying for a sub is no problem, then it's your choice when you do it, but you won't be able to 'access' ships and skills that require Omega if you lapse. You won't lose them, you will only lose their benefits. But it will suck.

they just announced that they will be opening up more ships and weapons to alpha clones this december. best to make an account in alpha, and just start training everything you can. Eve trains in real time and the queue is only 24 hours for an Alpha clone (you can still set skills that will train for multiple days)

If this is true(I don't doubt it :) ) defintely stay Alpha for as long as you can per skill/ship caps. Not that I'm against supporting CCP, but for us poor folk, it's a great advantage to go into Omega and not pay for the time taken to train what can be trained for free.
Just know that the ship cap will limit your ISK potential to a degree(VNI's and Gila's are nice), BUT, as a salvager, you'll still be able to make a good bit. I'm not sure what the total train time is for everything Alpha, but per my experience, about 3-4 months of Alpha sets you up fairly nicely to branch into whatever(I went primarily ratter but am training into some PVP stuff like dictors and some doctrines).

If you have any questions in game, look me up, Eveni Rowden. I'm still newish, but I'm with a solid Alliance/Coalition with tons of helpful vets on hand.

its a money grab... you still have to pay for omega to train get the skills in the first place and then you're still going to be limited to t1 ships.

I'm starting to think that some EVE dev must've murdered your family or so. Or are you one of those guys who are deeply insulted that they have to pay for something?

I'm a former paying customer who got completely and utterly ripped off... so I suppose you are somewhat correct.

Next time you need to tank your retriever, you're not invulnerable in highsec.

Well, coming back after years away and finding all my stuff (missing ISK though, I had just cashed in the insurance on the Hulk I had blown to bits right before I quit) there was a nice surprise...

Discovering I can only pilot my Thrasher because everything else is Omega locked....

Not so much.

Not even my Retriever, the little cargo ship I used for low end hauls, works with an Alpha clone.

Alpha is limited. I don't see why this would be a surprise.
But with the changes they are making to Alpha, it seems you might be able to PLEX through Alpha in a reasonable time since it is supposed to open up Faction ships(Gilas, Rattles, etc).
It could be worse, you could not have your SP at all coming back without a sub. All your skills are there, you just have to get fly time.

Sell stuff and PLEX or wait for the changes and head out to Null for those 13-18Mil ticks.

Still think 14.95 is too much for a month, they already gotten a handful of money already. If they bring it down like 9.99 a month, then i will sub it. Dunno if i want to stick around playing on Alpha.
