NPC Mining Fleets
Have taken some years off and just recently come back to Eve to see how ftp is. Can any of you explain this new NPC joint mining team to me a little please.

I dont understand why they are so numerous or why they were deemed necessary and fun to have in the game. I went out with the only thing i can use as a ftp returning player (lame venture) and went to system after system where i found 9-14 different ships stripping an asteroid field bare.

Why were these introduced in such rediculous numbers? They were at almost every field i went to tonight.

What happens if i attack them? I hear a very powerful fleet shows up and will attack and kill me with ease

It really just feels that game wants to say that its ftp but prevent you from being able to play. I can only use 3 of my 26 ships. Even if i could use others, all their mods are locked anyways. When i try to do something as boring as mine in high sec .07 and above, there are fleets of 9+ ships that are npc controlled draining every location i go to.

yeah i discovered this even about a half year to a year ago. Thought it was a cool little addon at first, until they stripped my money source bare.
I think either CONCORD or maybe an NPC fleet of the mining corp jump in and pretty much insta kill you.

Maybe it's CCPs way of saying you should probably get out of highsec. ;P
Kodokuro 17 października 2017 o 7:40
have you seen the reward in their haulers ships?
They drop skins and resources. You can attack them and corcord will not act.

When you attack one of them a defending fleet will show up.
They use scrams, logis, and EW. Advanced pve and they easily kill BCs

You only lose standing if you attack them.

Can a skilled pilot in a faction battleship take on their defending fleet?

I don't see you''re prevented from playing, you can use 3 of your 26 ships and if you do a research you would clearly see that you can use more ships than that. You can have tons of fun with your racial frigate, destroyer or cruiser, or with Gnosis. It just depends on you to find that fun, like always in EVE.

be carful the defending fleet escalate according to what ship you are using.

At leas in High sec i tried to kill the same venture fleets whit 2 diferent ships.
If i atack whit a frigate only dps show up.
If i use a Brutix logis, dps, and EW show up.
All frigates.

if you use a BS it migh spawns T2 logis crusiers.

I am also annoyed by the mining fleets. Sometimes they mine out the entire systems before i log in, so i have to travel serveral jumps to find asteroids for mining. This can be pretty time consouming (ore is bulky) and unsafe.
It seems CCP wants to force all miners to join the large nullsec alliances where they mine in ore anomalies.

Coincidentally, the NPC miners dont touch those ore anomalies, which are the biggest mineral faucet in the game ...

I wonder why nullsec alliances have enough resources to be able to do mining in ore anomalies. Maybe they like... cooperate? Maybe if they are greeted with a bunch of NPC miners they would, I don't know, fleet up to kill them or something?
khan 18 października 2017 o 9:45
Yeah, you could destroy the NPC miners, but when i log on they often have already mined out many or all belts. They just mine way too much. Sometimes there are fleets from 2 different NPC corps active in 1 system ...

If the NPC miners would drop good loot, PVEers would fight them, but they only drop a little bit of ore and the hauler worthless skins. The defense fleets drops nothing at all, they dont even have bounty. This whole feature looks like its designed to make life harder for the small guys who arent part of a big alliance.

I've never liked the 24hr respawn cycle for belts and sites. TBH. Fix that then this might be a decent feature.

I was in a mining corp a while back that disassembled due to the large upswing of ganking in high sec. I knew pilots that stopped playing all together simply because they kept losing exhumers and hundreds of thousands of isk in parts and mineral. I have a feeling that the introduction of the NPC mining fleets is [in part] due to the attempt to slow the escalation in HS ganking. If the payout for one of those ships is like Kodokuro says they are, the temptation may shift from your ore bay to theirs and give you a surviving chance to mine.

Of course, this is all speculation.

Gankers dont care about the ore in your exhumers lol. They dont even pick up the ore after a gank. They only want to ruin your day and make you angry.
NPC miners dont get angry, they dont give a killmail and if their mining fleet is destroyed they just spawn a new fleet. (Thatswhy you should never destroy all NPC miners, leave 1 alive so that they dont respawn.)

Damn! Did no one consider looking into how to repel suicide gankers?

The tears are nice, and it's always amusing being called a sociopath by someone who is threatening to kill you and/or your family over a few destroyed pixels but ganking also has an ideological aspect that most carebears are ignorant about, that being that high sec is too safe for the amount of reward players can extract from it, no one should be able make bilions of isk in pure safety.
