Notice: Accounts created via Steam have to be accessed separately through the Steam client. Subscriptions & PLEX through the Steam store can only be redeemed by users that have created the EVE Online accounts via Steam on or after June 4th, 2013.
If the launcher shows your account as a Steam ID instead of a name, it's a Steam account. You can also assign a Steam account a name through the EVE website so if you did that it might be a Steam account regardless. When you say you played a long time ago, you need to have created the account through Steam at least that date.
It's needlessly complicated because Steam takes like 30% of the revenue from linked game purchases so the EVE devs want to encourage using their own website instead of linking to Steam.
It automatically makes one for you. Just don't log in using one of your other accounts.
Alright so i hit play through steam... Brings me to the launcher, has my eve accounts listed, where do I go from here? If i click create account it brings me to add an email which will be a non steam account... Where and what do I need to click for a steam account? I dont see anything relating to steam on the launcher that I have from steam... Also Add account doesnt have anything listed for steam accounts, I'm launching this through Steam
I already tried both, I checked my history and purchased EVE in 2010... Do i need to purchase a starter pack again to get it to create an account? Shouldnt I be able to just download and play?
which ever account purchased eve via steam should be your steam account. otherwise try forgetting all the accounts and see if that`ll force steam to create you one.

It appears to be caused because your account is older the June 2013.

If you have an old account and you want access to the new features, you MUST delete the game and redownload it. Fortunately for me my super old character was only a trial back in the day. Nothing of value was lost, now I just need to see if I can get the PLEX I bought.

This worked! Deleted the game permanently from my account and just redownlaoded the new free version... Seems like you cant have the old serial codes tied to your steam account, or else it wont work!

That accounts are linked to steam. If you buy plex trough the steam interface you should be able to redem them in-game on that account.
if you want to check the movements on plex, transaction etc. you need to log in on their website.

i have seen a lot of pleople having problems to redem PLEX when they buy them using the steam interface so be sure to have your e-mail verified.
