HAHAHAHA!!!
This is what happens when you "pay to win" on this game.

You need to pay if you are not smart enough to figure out a way to make money more efficiently than just chew asteroids in a venture.
If you where playing long before the alpha state extisted you should have know this was the case.
Unless of course you are one of the players that hides under a rock all the time.
Probably you don't even know what Pay to Win means.
Do you say also that WoW is pay to win? Because WoW has a similar business model to Eve. The difference between the 2 is that Eve has an unlimited trial while in WoW u can only play to a certain level and u have to start paying subscription.
The fact that u can have more ship after subscribing is not a factor of the game being pay to win. Each ships has its own task to do, certain ships u use in PvE, certain ships u use in PvP. U use ships based on what the ennemy is using to counter attack them.
On a free trial u are limited to ships, to skills and certain items to use.
Players does not have advantage because of the Alpha or Omega status. Of course if you are thinking to play this game seriously then at some point you have to get an Omega status anyway.
10$ per month is not much and its like 4 cups of coffee. What is 4 cups of coffee in one month? almost nothing.
Well, honestly, I have to agree with Shotgun [EDIT: and everyone else who posted a similar response while I was idle lol]. Becoming 'Pay2Win' from Pay2Play is not so bad. Having the ability to play it for free (let alone even try it for free) is a way to test the water; and in the case of EVE it's not just a dipping of the feet, but you actually get to have a bit of a swim around. You get to play a game absolutely free for which you would have previously had to pay. That sounds like a good deal to me.
I'm playing it without having spent any money as yet (I might never feel the need to) and am still having a ball. On the other hand if I get invested enough into it, I may very well pony up and it would be 100% guilt free.
-Lith. ...Trials.
From a practical perspective, however, nothing has changed. You still get the entire experience by paying a sub, just like you did before.
PTW indicates that when you pay you can suddenly beat a whole bunch of people and you will suddenly be better.
I prefer to think EVE is PTP (pay to play) I think that is a more acurate description of eve and it is the description that has been used for all it's years.
CCP might have had good intentions, but totally screwed up their execution of this monetization strategy.
Billions of ISK and loads of money does not equal skill.
Now besides PLEX you also have the ability to inject your characters with skillpoints, giving you the chance to not only power level your wallet but also the character.
Just because skill is also playing a very important part in this game does not exlude this game to being pay to win.
alpha-omega system just alternative for who want try to play
ofc any time u can buying plexes for "legendary" fit =D

I think every veterans know that banking your ISK in PLEX is an investment, akin to buying property in RL. Due to Eve Online unique free market mechanism, storing your ISK in PLEX as wealth perservation is a good option to counter ever rising ISK inflation.
Of course, from CCP point of view, more PLEX means more profit.
If you're playing alone, getting PLEX is a not fun. Once you reach a certain experience and be a part of good corporation, getting PLEX becomes trivial.
