Screen tearing when looking/moving horizontal.
it doesn't look like any of the settings in the game is preventing or causing it.

i've tried graphics settings from everything off and low to everything on and high but the tearing still happens.

how do i fix this?

edit: turning on vsync through console hasn't changed anything either.

Where are you when this happens? Did this happen at the start of the game, or happen at a certain point? Did you explore the Glacial Basin? What vehicles have you ridden?

start of the game. haven't left the bedroom trying to fix this.
forcing vsync on through console command hasn't helped either

Wow, I don't know. Press F8 and report it to the devs. They hopefully will find out the problem. The door out of the bedoom has a known bug that will cause a brief amount of shaking when opening the door, but that should be it. Your issue does not sound like it is brief at all.

Try deleting the save and starting a new one. I doubt it will do anything, but it won't hurt since you are already at the start of the game anyways.

What computer hardware does your computer have? Make sure your OS is 64 bit. The game has a lot of bugs right now, but the screen tearing is definitely something new.

"Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Processor: Intel Core i3 / AMD Ryzen 3 2.6ghz+
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: Intel HD 530 or better
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 15 GB available space
Additional Notes: Subnautica Below Zero is an Early Access game, and minimum specifications may change during development"

GPU: GeForce GTX 670
CPU: Intel Core i7-3770k CPU @ 3.50GHz
Memory: 16.00 RAM (15.96 GB Usable)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

actually i noticed screen tearing on youtube just now so i dont know if the issue is specific to this game.

the only other game iv played since making this post is minecraft and that has minimal to no tearing. so i have no sweet clue whats going on.

This is most likely a hardware problem with your graphics card or your computer monitor drivers. I would try uninstalling the video card drivers and install new ones, and same for the monitor.
If that doesn't work, if you happen to have another computer monitor, swap monitors and see what happens.

Your hardware should be able to handle this game fine.

honestly i haven't the first idea of how to do that. my computer knowledge peaked when i picked the parts to build this computer... like.. 8 years ago. now its back to consumer end knowledge.

Settings > Device Manager (you may have to search for "Device Manager")
Check that there are no red exclamation marks over any device listed in Device Manager.
If there are, look at what the warning says and deal with it (most likely uninstalling and reinstalling)

To uninstall/reinstall, click on a device and select from the list. Probably "Scan for hardware changes" would be the first thing to try. Then "Update Driver". If you still have problems, "Uninstall Driver" then restart the computer while pressing F8 repeatedly to go into safemode, and reinstall Driver by going to the Device Manager and using "Scan for hardware changes" followed by "install driver".

For trying out a second monitor, just simply unplug your monitor and swap it for any other monitor that you happen to have available. You can't unplug laptop monitors though.

no exclamation marks.

everything says the drivers are updated.

now, heres one wierd thing i've been dealing with for the last year, and it hasn't been a pain in the ass and i don't have the money to fix it if i make it worse by investigating, but when i start my computer, i'm always stuck in the boot menue unless i press any key from F9 to F12 in order to get past it to go to the desktop.

to the same effect, noneo f those keys actually does what the boot menue says it does.

so yeah, thats wierd. but i'm not about to root around and potentially make it worse since i have no sweet clue what i'm doing.

thanks for the help, but the screen tearing isn't THAT big of an issue for me. i'll get it looked at when i have some throw away money.

by then i'll probably just make a new PC from the ground up since i doubt anything in current market is easily compatable with 8-10 year old hardware
