NO LEADS DEPOSITS?
Okay okay okay. Why are there no lead deposits. Such a basic material and you have to spend ages finding the right rocks to mine it. Good luck if you want to make a big base and need a lot of supports. Meanwhile, you find diamonds, gold and silver in large deposits? there are large deposits of every other useful material!? I swear they had big lead deposits in the first game. Why did they remove them? What possible reason could they have to remove them. Just needlessly increases the grind if you need a lot of lead. Why have they removed so much stuff from the first game to the detriment of this one. I really don't get it. How hard could it be to copy paste the same lead deposits?!

Wait, really? They removed large lead deposits?
anime head May 16, 2021 @ 7:17pm
I haven't found any!

Actually, I have just had a look on the Wiki, and what do ya know. They have removed large lead deposits...as well as lithium deposits, magnetite deposits, nickles deposits, salt deposits and maybe others....WHY!? What is the point in removing these?! I really can't think of why! It just increases the grind for people.....

The wiki doesn't say anything about large lead deposits either, other resources do.

Honestly I can't say I'm surprised, just saddened by this entire game.

It's like the medical box being removed. It still exists in the game, we just can't build it. Why not? Because screw the player.

Yeah. I've never seen a large mineral deposit for lead and I played through months of Early Access. Not a single one in any biome. Lead is the new bottleneck building material in this game.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the medical box. It's just things like that...why remove it...

Lead and Nickel are a PITA for me so far.

Strange that I have entire lockers full of diamonds, rubies, and even kyanite, but at best have 2-3 lead and nickel.

The developers have stated that there are 1200 galena nodes in the game with a 50% change of producing lead. That's 600 lead available in game which is more than I can imagine using. They also confirmed there are no large lead deposits for mining.

To get started, search the area around the Delta Dock for galena deposits. There's not a lot there, but because there is no vegetation, they are easier to spot than in any other location and are not deep. That should do you until you gather enough resources to build a scanner room and HUD chip, which should be one of your first construction priorities. It can reveal large numbers of galena nodes in almost any biome you choose to build it.

I think it makes sense actually. Those two resources aren't needed for a whole lot of bulk activities and having those resource deposits made certain things too easy I think.

I've had zero issues getting lead in the twisty bridges area, especially with the mk 2 depth module. I can easily fill up my inventory getting lead from the rocks down there.

I'm not saying there's not enough, I'm saying I cba to grind lead. What was the problem with the lead deposits. Why was it an issue, why remove it from the game. If it's not required for a lot, then why would it make the game too easy to have it. It simply doesn't make sense to remove it.
anime head May 16, 2021 @ 9:25pm
Like, why remove the lead deposits but keep the diamond and ruby ones? You use rubies for even less things than you do lead?! But you get stacks of rubies because of all the deposits, you end up with tonnes of mid / end game materials but can't get enough lead.
Evil Overlord May 16, 2021 @ 9:31pm
As Darlandra mentioned, lead isn't particularly hard to locate in the twisty bridges area. I based in the bridges kinda close to delta and was never wanting for lead, though after a bit I did have to single out the nodes with my scanner. Frankly BZ is just so over generous with resources that feel like they should be harder to stockpile that by comparison lead feels scarce.
The random wall cracks containing 3-8 of a resource that is never lead don't help the feeling.

Again, it's not that it's hard to locate, you can easily find it, but if you need lots of it and don't want to gather it piece by piece by mining individual rocks, why not let people bulk mine it form a deposit? My point is, it's a weird thing to remove. Why didn't they remove the diamond and ruby deposits? In my opinion they should be even more scarce than lead but they're not really and they're much easier to gather quickly. It's just needless grind in my opinion. Why not remove quartz deposits as well. I'm sure people who like using glass in their bases would like not being able to gather lots of quartz quickly to prevent a massive needless grind.

You miss understand, I agree. Some of the resources you mentioned are so overabundant that its crazy, the fact they come with mining nodes just pushes it over the top and makes other resources more common in the tech tree feel scarce. When you have a group of resources such as titanium, copper, lead, diamonds, rubies, and lithium it isn't unreasonable to be surprised that unless you ignore many other readily available resources and extend the trip that you'll be the lightest on lead.

No I don't misunderstand. Again, I'm not saying that the scarcity of lead is the problem, it's there and easy to get. But, if you need a lot, it takes a fair a amount of time. Way more time than it would take to gather the same amount of any other basic resource. It's not the availability of other resources that's the problem. It's the choice to remove the deposits for seemingly no reason. People say it's to make lead more scarce but it hasn't even done that. It just makes it longer to get. If they wanted to make resource more scare then why did they only remove some deposits and not other. In Subnautica 1, when I made the P suite and fitted it with a drill arm, I gathered all the lead I needed for what I wanted and that was that. Afterwards I wasn't sitting there going 'If only I couldn't gather lead so efficiently I would enjoy the game more'. You see what I mean? As a reward for getting the Drill P suite I should be able to gather the resources I need quickly. It would feel like progression. it feels weird in the late game still needing to manually gather one by one a basic resource when I have a massive ♥♥♥♥ off Mech Suite that should be able to do it for me.
