Below Zero is not a game.

Below Zero is re-packaging the exact same gameplay loop, using mostly the exact same assets of Subnautica 1.

Graphics are *identical*, mechanics are *identical*, UI is *identical*.

If anything, Below Zero is a kind of "episode 2" of Subnautica, a DLC, which they made instead of first fixing the various open bugs and glitches of Subnautica 1.

I waited for Early Access to end to say this, but now I can say so confidently: The devs are re-selling you a less buggy version of Subnautica 1 instead of fixing and extending Subnautica 1, simply because there is no money to be made from fixing the product they already shipped.

If this were integrated into Subnautica 1 as a playable mode, this would mean that Subnautica 1 also gets its many open bugs fixed; fine, I'd pay some $ for that. But as it is, I'd really like to hear an argument how Below Zero possibly can be justified to be a stand-alone game, except for making people pay twice for the same game.

I think you never played any story game beside subnautica. Go start from Lara Croft series and tell me what is different in last 3 games or you can start from God of War and tell me what is different in last 3 games.
Each sequal game involves previous game.
If you look gta 3 you start to see similarity with vice city. Than if you look vice city you will see similarity with san andreas.
If you look spider man it is upgraded version of saints row with hooks.

Are you genuinely new to gaming or just started gaming in 2007 when half life made episodic games a thing?...... This litterally has been a thing since what NES times?.....

Shrug. I find it to be excellent. New biomes, new visuals, new story, new threats many new creatures.

It would be dumb NOT to reuse many of the core assets. Why wouldnt they? It's a sequel.

It is like getting mad at Forza and Gran Turismo because they have cars that were in the previous games and you are still racing.

Below Zero was originally pitched as a stand alone expansion. Which is essentially Subnautica 1.5, not Subnautica 2.
This isn't an idea unique to Unknown worlds. It's literally something every game studio has done for the past 30 years, and is common practice.
Steam forum trolls really need to stop acting slighted over ♥♥♥♥ that isn't new or a problem. Nobody has lied to you. Nobody misrepresented what this was going to be. Nothing about Below Zero is surprising or upsetting. Stop wasting peoples time.

That's not debatable, that's just flat out wrong (as are most absolute claims).
Divinity: OS 2 is better than Divinity: OS, to give one example.

Well cyclops was upsetting. Lack of emotion in the game upsetting. Lack of speed on vast frostlands was upsetting. Leviathan's scare level and dmg was upsetting. Beside adding new things to game deleting old ones was definitely upsetting.
So please steam trolls stop acting slighted over ♥♥♥♥ that isn't new or a problem :)
