Subnautica: Below Zero Price Increasing
Hello, Subnauts!

Subnautica: Below Zero is getting closer than ever to being ready for launch. We are aiming to release 1.0 in the early part of 2021 - as some of you might have guessed from our Nintendo Switch announcement - but still have bug fixing, optimizing, and further fine-tuning to do before it’s ready for launch on all platforms.

With the release on the horizon, we will be increasing the price of Below Zero to $29.99 (USD) across all PC storefronts (Steam, Epic, Discord, Humble) on January 5th, 2021.

This price will be Below Zero's final increase and the cost at full release. The price increase will not affect any previously purchased copies of Below Zero, and Early Access purchasers will receive the 1.0 release, as well as all future patches. Additionally, in conjunction with Below Zero’s price change, the price of Subnautica will also be increased from $24.99 to $29.99 across all PC storefronts (Steam, Epic, Discord, Humble.) Subnautica will also continue to receive bug fixes, optimizations, and patches."

They gave a warning several weeks in advance of the price increase.

they also mentioned this price increase when they announced the game

So why did you not purchase it when it was $20 ????? I like that people don't support a game in development and then when the price goes up because it is either close to being finished or is finished they complain about the price hike , which was posted ages ago .

Because it never showed the same potential as Subnautica which I did purchase way before it officially launched.

Now I saw it pass by on the steam store so I gave it another look and the first thing I noticed was the price being different.

Games increasing in price when they Leave/ready to leave Early Access is nothing new, its standard. The Early Access price is a sale price for investing early. You snooze you lose and all that.

From what I've seen of this game, I won't be buying it. Love the first game. But this one doesn't seem to be a worthy dlc for $1.99. Go woke, go broke.

With already over 30k overwhelmlingly positive reviews, they seem be fine without a sale to such a delicate flower. I mean they are absolutely swimming in money from sales. So much for your "Go woke, go broke".

Yeah because soo much Fanboys. Every objective would say that subnautica is way better then below zero.

The only objective measure would be sales figures (and subjectively there may not be much correlation between sales and how good a game is), and you can hardly compare the two when Below Zero hasn't been released yet.

You can compare both quite easily based on pre-release sales.

Not really. For example Fifa. Fifa 22 is ♥♥♥♥ but it have very good sales. Even the fans says Fifa 21 is ♥♥♥♥ :).

Most people buy below zero because it is a Subnautica Title, that's the only reason.

I was being generous with the $1.99 dlc comment. I won't have this trash on my computer if it's free. I'm also putting this dev team on my do not support list.

Did this game have a strong start. Sure did. The hype for more subnautica and the story seemed interesting, I almost bought it EA. So most of the Positive reviews are from the early version of below zero. After the story change, the game went to ♥♥♥♥ with a large heeping load of woke ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

If you'll excuse me. I have to go beat my wife because I don't know rape is bad.

What... in the actual... [CENSORED FOR EARLY ACCESS]

Wait, so you didn't play it at all, and you're calling it a trash game?

And yes, most people bought it because it was a continuation of Subnautica. But the idea is if they created a game that good the first time, there was a high probability of the second one being awesome too.

And, quite frankly, it is.

Ok, but what about this dude?

- The map is small and cramped.
- The ocean is not wide and deep enough.
- The land part is too large and not fun.
- The voiced protagonist is annoying.
- The PDA voice is hard to understand.
- The 'jokes'/quibs from the protagonist and the PDA are not funny.
- There are too many predators (that are not scary or dangerous but just annoying).
- Creature placement is often terrible. The Shadow Leviathan for example has not enough room to move and nothing to hunt/eat in his biome.
- The story is disjointed, full of plot holes and in your face.
- The tech progression is broken. You get too much stuff too fast; there is no feeling of accomplishment.
- The game is too easy overall (for example, there's too many oxygen plants; you can kill almost anything by ramming it with the truck).
- The sea truck is not really fun to use for various reasons. Most modules are pointless.
- The snow fox is terrible to drive and has no proper use case.
- The ice worm is ... I don't know how to describe it. It doesn't feel like a creature, more like a deliberate obstacle. (That doesn't really do anything when you use the Prawn.)
- The survival mechanic is broken by several choices. Oxygen plants, salad, Prawn on land for instance.

Overall, it's very rarely that BZ creates the same feeling of wonder and joy of exploration that Subnautica evokes even after hundreds of hours of playtime.

Worst of all: Most of these problems have been discussed in this forum as far back as a year ago and UWE did absolutely nothing to address them.

Edit: I completely forgot to talk about Al-An. Which, I guess, is criticism enough in itself ...

Which tells me it's less of a title than the previous game.
