Stacking multipurpose rooms
In the original you could stack Multipurpose rooms on top of each other and make bigger
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2144742632
but I tried that with below zero and doesn't seem to work like it did in the original. If you do stack it's like putting two donuts on top of each other they touch but no way to put a ladder in or tank in like in the screen shot.

Did they do away with that?

And how the heck do I put in the glass roofs on NP rooms and large rooms I put it in but it's always red never lets me add it in despite having the materials

No, They still work the same way.
Maybe there is something in the first room that blocks the second one.

I'll try stacking 2 empty rooms and see same with the roof as somethings no connecting them up

thanks
yeah I just tested it. I have a large room attached to an empty multipurpose room and it won't let me add an additional MP on top or a glass roof. I then tried to build a separate MP room and then it would let me stack. Is clearly some form of bug as you shouldn't have to tear apart your entire base just to stack rooms or add a glass roof!!

Sounds like you might have encountered the reinforcement glitch.
For some reason anything that adds reinforcement freaks the game out preventing several types of construction or deletion. It doesn't even have to be IN the section your trying to edit.

Had a reinforcement on a multipurpose room on the other side of the base do that.
The wall partitions in the rectangle room do the same.

It also bugs out paintjobs, which are already hit or miss regardless.

would removing the reinforcements get me around this issue without the need to redo my whole base? Not so bothered redoing the base but all my storage lockers UGH

When it happened to me, getting rid of the reinforcements fixed the problem...
But it was a bit of a scavenger hunt to get rid of all the things considered "reinforcements."

Base instantly flooded because negative integrity, but I could manipulate the base again.

You don't have anything in the multipupose room that isn't built? I couldn't build anything on mine for a while until I realised I forgot about a locker I started building.

Hey ❄️The Last Frontier 😊! Nice to see you on the BZ forums.

Were you able to build your base in the fossil chamber in the Lost River?

And yes, as people have said, there is a nonsensical specific "order" that base parts have to be built, and if you break that order you run into problems such as what you are experiencing. Just let us know what kinda issues you have and we'll help as we are able to.

yeah I did finally get it down just above the fossil. Took me a bit though to find that sweet spot to lay in the first room as it didn't want to at first but one that went in the rest hooked up fine.

Finally got the new base in below zero worked out took me like 4 hours last night of moving things around and headache after headache due to this still being EA. Had the first set of upper floors at water level and they have this issue if it's at water level you get a shiny watery floor and walk around in water HA HA (Not flood just water surface coming through the floor so had to move everything up another level but that took alot of work as then I am not sure why this happens but because the top floor was above the water level (not at level) the top room have an alien containment but oddly it would not hold water. if you got into the tank at the top floor would would fall all the way to the bottom even though lower levels had water it would be like you were falling through air and take damage (alot) when you hit the bottom floor. Was very weird.

Then for long time it would not let me remove the hatch on the top floor tank as I has apparently 1 glass or something in the MP glass roof so it refused to let me remove anything else UGH once I finally got that one item removed then the rest came apart easily. finally got it all done about 2AM this morning. looks good through will tweak it some more.
