What Happened to the Mercury II Survivors?

In the last message we get from Yasmin, we find she and Stefanos survived the second crash of the Mercury II. The entry ends on a positive note, with her determined to keep them alive. I assume the Kharaa got them, but did I miss any further PDAs that speak to that?

I was under the impression that recording took place JUST before the Captain Praised almighty Lord Mercury and vowed to do the impossible by making the ship do another attempt to exit the planet's atmosphere. And since the people were infected, and the alien batteries on the planet really like to go crazy when they get a sniffle of infected beings on objects flying in atmosphere...

The quarantine enforcement platform/s fired on targets that weren't infected either. Anything coming or going would get blapped until they were shut down in the course of the first game. Of course, given that Mercury 2 was taking off so starting at a lower velocity than a ship just coming out of orbit... Sitting duck.
