Is the Seamoth really getting removed?
That would be a shame, it is by far the most useful vehicle in the game IMO.

New game, new toys. Why keep old stuff that has already been done before? I, personally, love the new Seatruck. I'm still playing OG Subnautica and having lots of fun with that while waiting for new updates with BZ. I love both games in equal measure - both have their unique charms and quirks.
What do you "love" about it?

What does this have to do with coding at all?
I think this idiot was directing that comment to me and is clearly unaware that Unity games, being built in C#, are very easy to decompile and peek into the source code.
It's how we mod the game in the first place.

So yes, I actually do know what I'm talking about here.

I probably know more about the inner workings of the Subnautica vehicles and Cyclops more than most people outside of the original dev team given how much I've modded for them.
Which is why I'm bothered by the fact that the Sea Truck is a whole new thing:
None of the existing vehicle mods can be ported over to the sea truck without a near full rewrite. And that just sucks.

Interesting reading indeed. So why I loved the Seamoth and would have liked it in Below Zero is because of the Sonar. I hate going deep and not being able to see the mountains or obstacles in the way, the sonar helped me overcome going deep in original Subnautica. If it is not going to be in Below Zero I'll except it and will get used to the Seatruck, but the sonar was awesome!

Its early yet, did someone else mention that.... with all the compartments for the Sea Truck I can envisage a possibility of a Sonar Compartment, possibly intertwined with a mobile Scanner section.

what part of Early access do you not understand, early access means the game is not 100% complete yet. It means the game is still in development, what part of that don't you get. Secondly the seamoth was never intended to be in this game. You have the truck thing that is the new seamoth

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, maybe they might yet add a sonar into the sea truck, would be great.

And if they don't end up adding Sonar to the truck, it might not be too hard for modders to add it themselves by pretty much just pinching the original code into something the Sea truck can use.

I think that was mentioned already, you're being repetitive. I'm saying that the "truck thing" is a poor replacement for the seamoth. It's like a step backwards replacing the seamoth and the cyclops. Early access, or not, the choice to not make better versions of both the seamoth and cyclops is a game design decision not an implementation. Entering beta usually ends the game design decisions.

Bingo!

When people say we shouldn't judge because Early Access, it'd clear they lack the imagination to judge things not as they are but as they are going to be.

In it's current state, the truck would need a lot of design overhaul to be able to compare to the awesome Cyclops and Seamoth combo.

The sea truck is coded to it allow anything to be crafted onboard and that won't change.
The truck cabin on its own has precisely no storage and won't get any as we have those Storage modules.

In fairness, the storage modules would be easy to fix by simply altering the storage space sizes.
And if the devs don't, modders will very quickly.

But not being able to build things into the Seatruck, not even in a dedicated module, just kills it for me.

The teleport module that (might) instantly return you to a proper base is a band aid fix to compensate for how lackluster the truck is as a mobile base to begin with.

Sadly, I don't think any of these issues will be addressed by the dev team since it would go against the design they clearly have in mind for this thing.
