Where diamonds at
oi like so I need em, asked a mate and he said go to the lava geyser things under the smokestack thermal vent area, right right did that, took my sea truck, there's no diamonds there nope. Went down to 150m rush depth in the truck and dove all the way down to reaching some mining base thing down there, no diamonds anywhere
I need em for the enameled glass but jeez I can't find em? Where I go

Deep Twisty Bridges, just south of the starting area. It's the area just below where you get the first alien SOS. Can find all the diamonds you need for the entire game in a single trip there.

Oi so couldn't find ♥♥♥♥ there
no diamonds
I need help I'm genuinely annoyed
I also accidentally ate the lantern fruit I carred from delta base back to my seabase to plant, that might be contributing to the annoyance

It's down at the bottom with the octoshark, around 300m deep I think

Don't bother with latern fruit, you'll get better fruit later when you met the old lady again, well you can get it immediately but that's sort of spoiler, and that East from delta station, your destination is floating iceberg

I spent like 20 mins searching around there, I cant find any deposits. I'm really not sure I'm looking for the right thing anymore. Does it generate in some special way? I've been operating on the assumption it generates like quartz and breakable rocks

Quite stupid question but have you use the Mineral detector?

that sounds like a very useful tool that I 100% thought of using

♥♥♥♥

Well thanks :3

I don't think anybody uses that POS mineral detector after the first 10 minutes of gameplay.

Well if it makes you feel any better I spent the last 5 hours looking for diamonds.
I need it for the laser cutter and for the glass reinforcement so the seatruck could go below 150m depth.

I have also got killed like a million times by Stalkers on the surface and turns out true to a survival game you cannot use the damn survival knife to get their furs off, so then I got killed by the cold.

Right now everything needs raw materials that I can't find, mainly diamonds

The Deep Twisty Bridges. Just south of the starting lifepod, before you get to Delta Island. It's right near where you get the alien distress signal. You can find all the diamonds you will need for the entire game.

I appreciate the description but given that I have no idea where someone should see these location names ingame it is doubtful that I would find it.

With that being said I found an abandoned mine entrance, died several times while collecting a couple diamonds so now the seatruck can go to 300m.

Trouble is that every damn thing with reinforced glass also needs diamonds.

To find things I built a scanner room, and it killed my base because the bioreactor can't keep up with the scanner room's consumption.

Feels like the devs did the good AND bad parts of the OG Subnautica here too.

The lifepod and Delta Island have in-game beacons, and the Deep Twisty Bridges is the biome with the coral that looks like twisting bridges, in between the two. It looks like this:

To find this biome, swim about 200-250 meters directly south of the starting lifepod. Descend and look for a cave opening at around 200 meters depth. The area not only has all the diamonds you will need for the game, it also has blueprints for the Seatruck storage and fabrication modules, gel sacks, and lithium. The game definitely intends for you to visit that location.

Since this got revived, I'll just say I did get my diamonds. Bloody things are ass to find though, for something that's needed for so damn much they sure don't spawn a lot

Hey thanks for the detailed explanation.

Though the fun of exploration games is finding things yourself, and the fact that I had to "go meta" to find these things speaks for a bit of a game mechanics design flaw.

It would seem before I posted my first comment on this thread, my first playthrough of Below Zero progressed radically differently than the "intended" progression, because I already had the seatruck and the sleeper module, with a small base and exterior growbeds long before I would have felt like finding diamonds - and since then some other materials - ever became an issue.

I have actually followed some youtubers to find possible locations which partially ruined the immersion that was awesome until this issue.

Anyhow, still I appreciate the help and good intent - allow me to repay your kindness with an Extra Helpful reward ;)
