"Snow Stalker Fur" oh I can just get that by killing a Snow Stalker and cutting it's fur off, right? Wrong.

Instead of doing the more logical thing mentioned above, you have to make this stupid little Spy Pengling to get the Snow Stalker's Fur.

You might say "oh but they don't wanna encourage killing creatures" okay sure but it should still very much be possible to get fur by just cutting it off a dead Snow Stalker, as that makes perfect sense to do.

But that would encourage you to kill the snow stalkers. Honestly, I never used the clothes.

Have you ever killed a dragon in a game and you get 1 (one) piece of meat or bone, when logically you should have tons of meat and a full skeleton there?

I see what you're saying but Subnautica doesn't have actual meat or bones as items in it, so that would be why they didn't make you able to get those from dead creatures. But they DID add Snow Stalker Fur as an item so they might as well should've made you able to collect it from dead Snow Stalkers, as you could very much do that, and it's in fact a much more logical thing to do than use a robot to grab it for you.

You don't even have to deal with the stalkers at all. There is more than enough fur lying around on the ground or in boxes.

Stomped around the surface in my prawn with no idea that snow stalker fur was a thing, even though I dispatched a couple of them (not by choice especially, but they are quite tenaciously aggressive for something that has so few health points). Hadn't found the blueprint for the cold suit yet, and now that I found it, I will need to go back and figure out the fur thing. It would make sense if you could have a mutually non-fatal interaction with them that left both of you with minimal damage and you with a handful of snow stalker fur, a tiny bit like collecting stalker teeth in original subnautica.

Somehow I always seem to be doing things in the wrong order in BZ. Found the prawn practically at the beginning but didn't find most of the labs for ages.

It is possible to both kill a Snow Stalker with you knife and to take its fur to make warmer clothes. I have done it. You may, however, have to use the Spy Pengling to gather the furs (you need four pieces).

I want the fur of a polar bear. So nice and thick and warm. I have a knife and I'm going to kill a polar bear. Wish me luck!
Or I'll build a little robot that plucks the fur off the polar bears until they're naked. Maybe not completely naked, I mean, they still have to keep something. But if I pluck a little bit from each one, I think it'll be enough, eventually.
Besides, nothing would be worse than taking the mother away from the little polar bear cubs. They are really cute, polar bear cubs, uuhhh lovely cuddly, I'm melting. At least as cute as these little white seal cubs. So cuddly soft fur, that's what the rich people all wanted to wear back then and of course we beat them to death with iron bars and pulled off their fur. Nothing like a nice warm coat of baby seal fur in the freezing big city. Oh I'm rambling a bit right now.

So why don't we just do the same thing in this game. Let's take the snow stalker babies. You can definitely get them slaughtered with a knife. Well, we are real daredevils. So knife in hand and on them with a roar!
*noises of breaking bones* ahh ahh oof oof I have overlooked the mom and now the snow stalker baby nibbles at my legs. Maybe I would have rather taken the penguin robot. Nature can be so cruel.

There are definitely enough pieces of fur lying around to make a cold suit. Not that it is particularly useful.
