They would not even be fish let alone mammals, everything on the planet would be something entirely different.
We know evolution give a set of problems will often produce the same answer, exholocation has developed independently at least twice, because it is a good solution for hunting in the dark.

There are no mammals in the game, despite they might look like. Even the snow stalkers should be a type of fish.
Every aquatic creature in this game reproduces via egg and has no gender, so they're definitely not mammals and likely not anything that corresponds to our binomial nomenclature.

Whilst true, they are an extreme outlier from a genetically isolated region that should not be used as a good example of anything else. Same with the echidna.
Why is there a scanner selection for them? They aren't like the reef things that had a useful stuff on them in the first game., or does a use show up that I haven't got to?

They show up because they are around, no other reason.

best answer. i think glow whales and earth whales are just parallel evoluted.
