Whats planned after Below Zero?
Below Zero is almost finished. That brings up the question, what is Unknown Worlds going to do next? Are they going to take a break and just work on polishing Subnautica and Below Zero, or will they make a new game?

We've kind of announced via our CEO's twitter and job pages that we're working on a new game, a turn-based strategy games based on an original new universe. It's been worked on in the background by a small team for a while, and it's ramping up development now that BZ is finishing up.

We will probably return to the Subnautica Universe in the future, but not for a while. We will however continue to bugfix and optimize both Subnautica games.

I had hoped they might address some of the bugs and performance issues in Subnautica, but... small indie developer outfits... always moving on to the next thing.
I mean they did just say this

It's true. A lot of fixes and optimizations for Subnautica have been happening behind the scenes, but aren't ready to push to the stable branch just yet. We'll have a team supporting both Subnautica and Below Zero after the latter launches.

Also, on what comes next, we want to make sure whatever might happen in the Subnautica universe is something that makes sense for a follow-up to the first game and also Below Zero. A lot more discussion still to happen!

it is really a pity that there will be no editor for the world, to create new maps and stories (with already existing creatures and biomes only) for the Modding community.
I would really appreciate , yes also PAY for DLCs , with new maps and story to explore.
I don't need any fancy new creatures and biomes. we have sufficient now in both games.
the modding community could create new maps and a story could be told with PDAs, however, Enderal has shown that a great modding community would als even make voice texts themselves.

It's a shame to see that you don't want to continue working on Subnautica in the near future.
Subnautica has so much potential, if you had expanded the base game it would have appealed to more people.
I see the financial aspects behind it, but you could have done it like in ARK expansions cost money and I would have gladly paid the same price for an EA DLC in the basegame as for Subnautica Below Zero.
Many wanted a multiplayer mode like in ARK.

I think if you had gone in that direction the game would now be at least as popular as ARK.

I would love to see a game in the subnautica IP, but not a survival game. Maybe try something new, kind of like Natural Selection.

We never said we didn't want to continue working on Subnautica. We're just taking as break from developing new Subnautica games after Below Zero. Remember, a lot of the team have been working on Subnautica since 2013, so we'd like to make other games for a while.
