the sad seatruck
The vehicles from the first subnautica were amazing, the seamoth was perfect for fast travel and going to gather resources, and then you unlocked the cyclops which made you feel like a real Captain, not to mention you could dock a seamoth or prawn suit in it!. Now we are stuck with the prawn suit, which is cool don't get me wrong, a land vehicle for an underwater game and the water equivalent of a subway. I'm disappointed.

One thing I prefer with the Sea truck: when you got out of the Seamoth without waiting for it to completely stop, you got damaged. Not so with the Seatruck!

I guess they just couldn't iron out the bugs. It's a real shame but getting dropped onto the ocean floor every half hour or so was rage-inducing.

sea truck is perfectly fine for this game's needs. without modules its speed is decent enough considering the map size. adding modules improves its uses based on your needs, one of which is a prawn suit dock.

Seamoth had a nice feeling indeed. The cyclop was cool too.
I think the seatruck was meant to show that people who sneak around undercover on the planet and do not sell their soul to Altera, do not have the technology and resources to travel and live in style.
Also the developers wanted to show they can do something new.
I wonder if the Seatruck is the creation of the same developer who made the previous vehicles in the first game.

seatruck is mighty bad.

If the Seatruck greeted you like the Seamoth and Cyclops did, it would have gone a long way towards making me like it more.

"Welcome aboard Captain."

It's such a small detail but it was a satisfying one. Lots of little details were lost in this sequel.

Yes, the Seatruck is a sad mix of Seamoth and Cyclops and is neither as fun as the first nor as amazing as the second. It's just ... a truck. Under water.

Best thing you can say about it is "it works".
ParrotLord May 31, 2021 @ 2:05pm
kind of ruins some parts of the game though. Like, it has features from both cyclops and moth, but is less than any of them in their own terms. Someone in the forums had the idea of implementing this truck as a train structure along underwater railways u can build (in a bigger map ofc) and i rly like this idea. However the current truck is less then the moth, less then the cyclops, while at the same time making multiple bases obsolet (as if the small map would not alrdy do that, but whatever) and is kind of just an random tool to use. nothing personal connected i agree. "welcome aboard captain" rly felt like something in the first one

I don't play any Subnautica game without modding it. I always prefer small quick vehicles like the Seamoth or Seatruck over everything else.

I hated the Cyclops in the last game because it was too big, slow, and hard to maneuver. I modded it in the last game which made it slightly better but I barely visited it.

I didn't like the Prawn Suit until I modded it in both games. The way it sinks to the sea floor and can get trapped without a modded extra-length grappling hook is infuriating.

By far the worst vehicle for me in the games was the Snowfox, which was hard to maneuver, slow with sporadic speed-ups, and worst of all seemed to attract more worm attacks than ever even with two Ice Worm Attack Reduction Module upgrades. It was blown up by the worm almost immediately, and I never created another one, since running around on foot was easier, and I was attacked less.

I liked the Seatruck because it was a compact, modular vehicle, but I modded it to remove the speed reduction from attachments, because why would I want that? I really liked that I could strap the Prawn Suit to it and bring it with me. I didn't build any other modules other than the Seatruck Docking Module because the game was so easy that I didn't see why I would need it.

Having replayed the first Subnautica I realized you never even needed the Cyclops at all. There was never any point in bringing that lunk of mass to the lava zones, it just wasn't worth the trouble and the prawn could do all your work for you.

Granted, in this game the same could be said for the Prawn this time around. I never felt any reason to use it since the Seatruck had spoiled me all too much .

What trouble? It was basically a mobile base that was easy as hell to get all the way down there in a single go. Slap the power generation module on it and a recharger station in it, and your Prawn has an easy way to repair and recharge anywhere.

You realize you don't get the parts for the thermal power module until having gone there for the first time? And I seriously doubt you'll be staying in that zone long enough to run out of vehicle power which is easy enough to fix by bringing spare cells.

Like I said, no point in bringing it there.

Quite baffling to think about.
You build those shock pylons to attract them to those, this means that the worms react to vibrations. Somehow it's easier to traverse the land by foot and prawn suit as you're getting attacked less in spite of the weight of the player and the massive prawn. The vehicle that SHOULD create the least amount of vibrations attracts them like a magnet though. Why is that?

Seems like developers didn't thought all through and they rushed to finish the game.
There are inconsistencies and poor decisions all over the place.

Didn't really like BZ but the one thing I did enjoy was actually the Seatruck. It certainly fits well in the game map considered. You don't really need to massively haul stuff like in the first game and even though you get the teleporter late it's pretty sick... that and the jukebox is the best thing in the game.
