Laser Cutter missing?

tl/dr; I can't find the laser cutter.

I've been exploring... I really have

For my seatruck with the cargo, fabricator, aquarium, docking module, the bunk module and depth 2, Speed Boost, Torque boost, Shocker

I have a prawn with driller, Grappler and depth 1

For my base I have Water filtration module, bio reactor, nuclear reactor, battery charger, Thermal plant, Power cell charger, fabricator, coffee maker, Moon pool with upgrade console, the large outdoor grow bed and the small indoor pots (all 3?), the recyclotron, scanner room, command room, large room with glass dome,

on land I have the snowfox with Jump module, and a full set of Cold weather gear

for equipment I have Flashlight, repair tool, scanner, Thermal knife, Mineral scanner, Habitat builder, the headlamp, Charge fins, Ultra high capacity tank, pathfinder, Spy Pengling with remote, Reinforced dive suit, stillsuit, rebreather, compass, several ion batteries and ion power cells

as for the story I have the recipe for the skeleton

I say all this so you Know I've been exploring... I still haven't found the laser cutter. Did it get removed from the game or did my current playthru glitch and forget to include it?

Did you explore the Mercury II wreck near the island?

East of the drop pod, there's an Alterra platform with a Pathfinder tool near it. In the Sea Monkeys' cave below, you can find the Laser Cutter (and the Propulsion Cannon) fragments in their nest. There's also Laser Cutter fragments in the two largest Mercury II wrecks.

Search Mercury II and Alterra bases, set Mineral Scanner for "Shards" for help.

It's easy to miss things. I never found the pathfinder tool on my playthrough.

As far as I remember, the laser cutter was in one of the wrecks.

parts of the laser cutter are in the wrecks and many parts are in or around sea monkey nests.

I got all parts of the laser cutter in the starting area. But all were deep ( below 80m ) in the caves. I built pumps and long pipesystems to get them ( had no rebreather ).

Since the parts are tiny, it is easy to miss them.

Got it, Thank you all. That was driving me nuts.
I remembered seeing the laser cutter in sea monkey nests but I was searching the wrong sea monkey caves. I do also remember seeing Laser Cutters in the wrecks but I'm unable to get to them without cutting thru bulkheads.

As for the pathfinder tool; from the dock leading to Phi robotics, angle slightly left and you should see a cave, go in the cave and take the left path then immediately turn left to go Over the path that went right.

Ah, that one and the last fragement for the absolutely useful Aquarium module are still missing for me.

I have just the opposite problem LOL No more than 300-400m from the drop pod where it goes down really deep I built a base about 200m below surface and a scanner room, then used it to search for fragments. It finds like 200 fragments it seems and when I go to get them, almost every one of them is a laser cutter fragment. There are so many of them it seems like it must be a bug or something. Makes searching for fragments with scanner room kind of useless as it just finds a million laser cutter fragments for me. Very strange! :)

Wait, the laser cutter fragments are IN the wrecks? The things you have to have the laser cutter FOR? The places I've been avoiding because I can't do anything in them BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A LASER CUTTER?! Good grief.

Some fragments will spawn in there because those places have markers saying "spawn fragments here" - if you haven't already gotten the laser cutter from the multitude of their remains among the sea monkey nests below the shallows, then you will see more of them in those inaccessible areas as the game tries (not realising its error) to give you more fragments to scan.

It is a POSSIBLE - LOCATION for it. And no it isn't hidden behind weldable doors. That would defeat the purpose of hiding it there.

The laser cutter fragments are scattered out in the open all over the place near the starting location where it goes deep down. By building a scanner room it is possible to have it scan for "Fragments" and the holographic map will light up with hundreds of fragments. One can then use either the HUD chip, a drone camera, or the mineral finder tool to hone in on fragments and scan them.

In my game there were hundreds of them there or so it seemed, which may be intention or may have been a game glitch. This is all within 300m of the drop pod at the start of the game. Building a scanner room on the base is IMHO one of the best ways to locate any needed items in the game. Hope this helps.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that didn't find the laser fragments without help. Now that I have the laser cutter I'm finding multiple other entrances into the wrecks that would have given me access to the fragments in there... I swear I circled each wreck at least a dozen times looking for other entrances.

Oh cool, I found 2 wrecks and only went into one of them and I think I only cut one door, but had to leave as my inventory was maxed out. Then I got sidetracked on higher priority TODOs and never went back. I should go back and clear the wrecks out soon.
