ecological dead zone (advanced theories)
same planet. but why? the planet is big, but it feels like the land is small compared to the dead zone.why does it exsist? heres where the theory comes in. it goes on forever, and also know as the void. but does it really go on? the answer? no. (i think thats right) because in the normal game it has normal temp and no gauge. in this one its freezing cold. and other life forms. tell me this? how did they mutate and new life forms made? they were already there. the dead zone connects the same world, because how can the planet mutate that fast? its 2 years, still too short. they are different sides of the world.

I'm really confused... It's a fact that Subnautica and Subnautica Below Zero are on the exact same planet...
Like... what? Below Zero just plays at one of the poles of the same planet as the first subnautica
This thread really confuses me :bbtcat:
yeah i kinda streached it too much... basically tho the dead zone connects the first game and this one cuz one side is warm and another one be cold
The first game takes place inside a giant crater from a dormant volcano. When you leave the area, the sea surrounding it is much deeper and you cannot actually get to the bottom. Its too deep for the sun to promote life, thus the dead zone. As you travel around the planet, you encounter other more shallow areas such as the ecology of Below Zero, ostensibly at one of the poles

Australia is on Earth yet there are species found nowhere else. Billions of years of evolution is not required to explain different lifeforms.

Well said. :)

huh..
Sun is light, sun is love, sun is live.
The void chelie's look like my user. He probably would burn in the sun. XD

It's "the void" as it doesn't give all the required components for diverse life forms there.
The only creatures that are able to live there are the rotten void chelies. oO

And as of the different temperatures, in the area where the Aurora "dropped", it was the reign of the ghost.
I wouldn't wonder if these two meet each other in the deep and have some arguments about having a meal. ^^

Since Marguerit floated between the original game's crater and the map in Below Zero in just a few weeks, they clearly can't be that far apart despite the extreme temperature differences.
Yes, it was already established in the first Subnautica that 4546B is smaller than Earth; which would mean less mess, less gravity, which explains why a mere human can kick a keep a Leviathan from instantly killing/swallowing a human to kick it in the face to get free. Or that a middle-aged woman can go toe to toe with one and kill it with nothing but a knife.

Thus, the two areas can be realtively close, and yet one can still at one of the poles, getting very little sunlight, and being much colder.

The size of the planet would have nothing to do with fighting leviathans. The water density on 4546B is still the same as it is on Earth, so large aquatic animals would have to be equally muscular to swim through it. And we know from the logs that the Reapers are 50 meters of almost all muscle.

The point is not the size of the planet, it's that a slow drifting carcass is not going to move very quickly in open water. Maybe it can drift a km or two an hour, but anything much faster would tear it apart quickly. Thus, the crater from the original must be fairly close to sector zero.
Ecological dead zone = Some advanced superior beings (devs) never got around to finishing the creation of this planet.

Umm ... that's sort of exactly what the the theory of evolution aims to explain!
More to the point, why does the Below Zero area exist at all after the release of the kharaa? The original game's location continued to maintain life explicitly due to the peeper-spread enzyme 42. Those did not exist in the Below Zero part of the world. All life there should have been killed. A plot hole that, whilst often brought up during development, never got answered.
Yep, that's one of many issues with the plot. That area obviously was infected since the leviathan had signs of the contagion, yet somehow it's 100% cured even though there wouldn't be creatures passing through the "ecological dead zone" from the crater to the arctic to spread the enzyme. And certainly not at any meaningful quantity in just 2 years.

but most of the animals have the cure in them. the other ones died, which probably killed off the infection
The cure did not exist, dsotg, remember? The kharaa's effects were limited because of the peeper-spread enzyme 42 brought out of the sea emperor's aquarium through the pipe network across the original crater zone. That setup did not exist in the Below Zero area. There were no architects to transport it there after their disease lab was destroyed either and the whole planet went into lockdown.

We are talking about a biome thousands of years apart from the only thing that can keep it alive, still being alive with no explanation. Killing off the infection is not an explanation when that should have happened in the crater zone as well. Or ANYWHERE else in the galaxy that got infected by it and basically rendered extinct.
