Can you change your character’s appearance?

I’m thinking of buying this game but I was wondering if it is possible to change your character’s appearance or if you’re forced to play as a black woman.

Assuming you are serious (and I doubt you are) then no, you can't change your appearance. You only ever see your hands though. The guy from the trailer is just someone else who was on the planet, but gone now.

Should we be forced to play as a minority trans bi queer fluid character to prove our allyship to diverse and inclusive goals? Last time I checked games were about the customer having a good experience and not about proving ones own virtue.

i def prefer playing a character that looks more like me tbh, especially in adventure games like this. Makes me feel like im part of the game in some small way. When i see how small and feminine my in-game hands are, coupled with the fact that theyre a completely dif color than mine, it breaks the immersion for me. With how basic the story is they could've made it possible to customize ur character like in mass effect.

I get what you are saying, but its really not an issue in this game. Just like in Horizon Zero Dawn the main character here is very likeable. After a while you will be on her side.

Oh, and the color of her skin makes sense in this universe. As far as I understand it, most humans are of Mongolian heritage, with whites being the minority.
