Entering Drop Pod does not seem logical to me
How is it possible that the drop pod is not flooded when I enter it from the side?

It's just a video game...not really a big deal.

Force field technology

The game is set in the future

Their are a few things that aren't logical in this game.No big deal as at the end of the day it's just a game.

it would flood, which reduces the immersion factor.

This is nothing new !?
In start wars episode 1 the Gungan city is also situated under water in the lake of Paonga.

Qui gon jin and obi-wan come into the city swimming and land on a "floor" and walks through a forcefield and into the city, with out taking water in with them or the force field breaking in anyway.

So nothing unusual with this technology

On the contrary, flooding would increase immersion. (Sorry, that pun has probably been done before but I could not resist!)

But would that be any fun?

Same with any airlock in the first, only the droppod and moonpool would work with current technology.

The new droppod stands on the ground, so an entrypoint pointing down would be annoying. Simple and solid call from the devs IMHO.

"It's just a game" is a fair argument.

"It breaks immersion" is also a fair argument.

It's less a difference of "just a video game" and more like "they didn't think this through, or if they did, their decision to leaveit like this bothers me"

The straw that broke the camels back is laid upon many other straws. One flaw doesn't break a game. Dozens upon hundred of flaws can and will break a game. This is just one additional straw on top of many others people have with this game.

And if the drop pod has a magical force field repelling water why can't we built one for our suit and just swim around with infinite oxygen? Why not just play in free mode with no oxygen food or water or temperature gauge and instantly build everything?

Why even play the game at this point just watch a Let's Play on youtube.

As I understand it early acess SN had air locks. Players complained that they did not want to wait for an airlock to cycle every time they entered or left their base. Plus it added lots of animation which took a ton of resources. Force feild tech is a reasonable explanation

I agree on the wait time issue. And it'd make sense if we just had to put hatches on the bottom. My mind would be ok with that.

But then I'd get to a point where I'd wanna put a hatch on the sides or top, and despite knowing it wouldn't make sense, I'd wanna do it. I'd complain either way. It's an unfair circumstance.

:steamfacepalm:

What a silly thread. The extreme water pressure against the door would render it impossible to open by hand.
Stollie Oct 30, 2020 @ 9:10pm
Would be cool if ankle deep water appeared on the floor when you entered and quickly drained away every time you entered. Doesn't have to make sense but it would look cooler.

Well that's just stupid too... You'd put the entrance at the bottom, with the door submerged, that way you can open it, and the water won't rush in.. (Just like the moon pool).

I mean.. they have the moon pool for christ sake... and this was a "complaint" or at least a fun thing to poke at in the original subnautica as well originally, until they DID fix it, and put the door on the bottom and top of the escape pod (which makes sense).

Now they put it on the side... lol why?

Personally I put the entrances of all my bases on the bottom, for immersion reasons, or use the moon pool as my entrance.

That, or again for "pretend" I put a bulkhead in front of the entrance, and pretend like its siphoning the water out.

You gotta do what you gotta do.
