Extendable Power Source
How does this thing works? Unless its just some useless rod that doesnt have a function?
I built a Base and I wanted to connect my Thermal Plant from 200m away to my base but it doesnt seem to do anything? You can clearly see the Blue Line connecting them all the way there but im still unpowered, The Thermal Plant is at Full Capacity of 250

What mode are you playing? In Creative power does not work, only in Survival or Hardcore.
Lagi Schwer Dec 28, 2019 @ 4:50pm
I am playing in Survival and I have 2 Thermal Plants on a Foundation Platform next to the Smoking vents at 29*c fully charged and my Base is fully Flat during the night

29 is a bad temp for thermal, you want to find 60 or higher.
Lagi Schwer Dec 28, 2019 @ 4:59pm
So even if their Capacitor is max it makes no difference?
Etherealtroll Dec 29, 2019 @ 1:09am
Its capacity is 250 for each thermal generator, the rate at which it produces energy is based on the temperature.

sounds like they are not producing enough power to travel where you need it to go. (I could be wrong but I think it costs power to travel power?) I would suggest finding a hotter place for the thermals and you'll have better results.
Lagi Schwer Dec 29, 2019 @ 12:59pm
so if I were to make a Power Line 1km away as its where the thermals would be to power my base this would fix it?
Etherealtroll Dec 29, 2019 @ 7:45pm
Its hard to know whats wrong with your power, you said you have no power in base yet you also say your power is at max capacity?
You also said you run out at night in particular, do you have any solar panels?

Essentially, low temperature thermal generators wont produce much power and your base may be using more then they can produce.
In the first Subnautica four thermal gens at 60+ temp would produce more then enough power for me.

I would suggest building a command room and looking at your power generation vs consumption there.

The Solar Powers are whats powering the base during the day so whatevers at night is only a trnkle from thermals just to last the night
Thermal Plants says they are at Max Capacity but its not giving power to my base during the night time?
Shouldnt their Capacity would be constant 0 if its always supplying power to my base though?
And my Base says Max Power Capacity is 300 and thats from 4 of my Solar Panels
I would know for sure if 2 wasnt enough if their capacity is never fully due to outcome but that doesnt seem to be the case

It sounds like your thermals are not properly connected, if you have 4 solar and 2 thermals connected you should have a capacity of 800 total.
You said you have the thermals on a foundation? and you have power transmitters running from that foundation to your base right?
Have you tried disassembling some transmitters and rebuilding them?
Can you post a screenshot of the connection to your base and the thermal foundation?
Are you on standard or experimental?

I have 4 thermals connected and they work fine, all though mine are low temp as well so they produce power quite slowly.

If you base max capacity is only 300, then thermals are not providing anything. You get 300 from only 4 attached solar panels. It has been some time since the last time I have used power extenders. Place one on your base, but don't select to build it. Before you click, you should see a blue line that appears that connects the Power Extender to the Thermal Generators. If it doesn't appear, move the Extenders around. The generators are too far away, which means that you will need multiple extenders and platforms for them to sit on top of. Just keep placing and making sure that line appears with each extender that you place.

If they work like the first Subnautica, then they are actually powering the foundation they're sitting on. That single foundation counts as a separate base and because they're directly connected to it, that is what they are actually powering. Remove the foundation and place them on the sea bed, they should work then.

Bioreactor boys rise up.

They are the superior power source.
Just cut some of those plants the seamonkeys play around in for about 20 minutes get a nice few lockers full and check in on them every time you return to base.

No having to run the gauntlet of setting up a power line or being constantly harassed by snappy bois while building the thermal reactor.

They work in the day, they work at night. All you need is a bit of extra space for them.
Bioreactors lads, they're the future.

That said would be neat if there was some kind of tidal energy power that could be used too. Would be thematic as well.

The "AI Marine turbine" mod for Subnautica could possibly be ported over.

The Extenders are connected and theres a long blue line connecting every thing even the foundations themselves and the 2 thermals and solar plants.
I thought it only works on Foundations so I put an Extender on the base itself but it still doesnt seem to work
and im playing on Survival mode

So Only one Foundation should be present for the Extended Power Source to work?
Makes the sea bed ugly now if I put them on the geysers
