Where's my ion batteries?

Since Below Zero is set after the original game, Why haven't we got any ion batteries to start with?
I don't know about you but I brought a bunch of ion cubes and ion batteries as well as my PDA that had the ion battery blueprints it synthesised.
Surely scientists would have been sent to the alien structures and find out how they make the ion cubes.

It has only been a year in game. Reverse engineering advanced tech like that could take quite a bit longer.

Maybe because we don't need them yet (story-wise).

If they are needed, I'm sure they will be added eventually when the development progress.

until the recipe for them is implemented you can always spawn them in..

you need ion cubes. not yet in game. suspect they would be needed down the line for something

well the ion battery is still in the game files.
you can even spawn it with the very same code from subnautica
"item precursorionbattery 1"

I'm more concerned about large storage lockers not being in the game yet. Since they gave us the battery charger for free, I'm happy to wait for the ion stuff to be added later on.
