Where's the handheld scanner to scan for stuff?

new to this game / dlc, don't know the name of set scanner BUT i'v seen youtubers use this device fairly early in there play, i have the seatruck now, two modules for it also, still no handheld scanner, i had to find all by exploring, now this is not super bad but i'm tired i want to scan, know where it is and move on.
anyways that can help.

You cannot have the seatruck without scanning the fragments for it.
You may be talking about the mineral detector. It's one fragment in a cave on the rocket island. Then you make it at a fabricator.

yea i know the act of scanning a fragment, that scanner i do have, but the scanner that finds example set fragments, i don't have. but you say rocket island eh, where abouts is that?

Go South from the lifepod just past the twisty bridges. Its hard to believe you have not seen it yet. There is a builder tool and a base with stuff to scan for your own base at the top of the island. You go through some caves to get there. One of them has the mineral scanner.
You may be disappointed in the mineral scanner. You can usually find things just as well with the naked eye.

interesting, i'v bin there, did not find any scanner, i did find a builder tool but that platform had nothing else for me, nor could i scan anything there either? my play is bugged is it... it felt like that from the start, the station above barely talks to me and that alien i totally stumbled on my self by exploring... darn, seriously bugged out for me i guess :/

OK its official, game broke, restarted whent strait there, and all is there like you said now... ohwell Early access =D can't be mad about that. thx for all the help
