I would understand if there's no big underwater vehicle if there is no purpose for it. But then I would question why is there not a purpose for it in a Subnautica game?
the map is far, far more compact then subnautica. much more vertical movement, a lot less horizontal, and more... tunnely? then the first game, so a big sub would get in the way more.
i get what they're doing with the seatruck though, it's kind of working as a combined seamoth and cyclops.
Just a hypothesis:
Maybe this game wasn't to be called originally Subnautica but Sheepnautica?
More vertical? Is there any region deeper than 900m?
IIRC Subnautica went down to 1700m
No, it's not. It's a bad replacement for either of them.
thank you.
everything is made of tunnels, movements is more on the vertical axis rather then the horizontal like in the first game. even the original frozen river was more like a straight compared to, say, the twisty bridges. areas are narrower... cramped, for a good word. broad expanses like from the first game are uncommon. that's what i mean.
i did not say, or imply, that it was working WELL. what it IS doing is trying to fulfill both roles at once. and it's "kind of". if it was doing well, i would not have placed a qualifier.
I see. I guess I didn't read that carefully enough. Yes, it's an attempt of replacing both subs. Players seem to disagree on how well it works in practice.
for me the main thing that's giving me trouble is the seatruck isn't as SMALL as the seamoth, so it's a lot harder to manoeuvre. in terms of replacing the cyclops, though, i like the module system much better. the sea truck is full of trade offs, but it's definitely got kinks in it's design that need to be worked out.
In my Cyclops I usually have tons of storage, a fabricator, a battery charger, plants for food and decoration, chairs to sit down and relax, a modification station if I need one and I can get into my Seamoth or PRAWN without leaving the sub first. For navigation there are several movable cameras. Not to mention the shield in case of attack.
What upsides does the Seatruck module system have compared to that?
nibba = rainbow six joke
