The purple vents is just off the coast of the island, the second salvage is relative close to the first.

What am I looking for? Do I need the gun to move objects out of the way like in first Subnautica?

You need to find ship wrecks and cut open doors to find the parts

If it wants 2 pieces of salvage, and not 1 and an advanced wiring kit, you are playing on an older version of the game, or at least your map has not updated to the new version. It might be best to start a new game, or delete your cells cache at least, that might update the map enough to change what you need for the tower I am not sure.

There are bugs where despite repairing the tower it breaks again and there are no more metal salvage.

In case that happens
Enable console
Hit enter and type
resourcesfor rocketradiotower

That will give you the advanced wiring kit and the correct metal salvage (not the subnautica kind)

There's no need to repair it a 2nd time, it has no effect after the 1st time it's fixed afaik.

I was able to finish all the story that's in, and still receive precursor drops, on my last play through despite the antenna having broken again.
