Start game for very first time "save files are corrupted" message
Is it normal that the first launch of the game shows an error message instead of the main menu?

Yes. It's a bug that will be persistent. Just ignore it. I had it show up every time I loaded the game and everything ran fine.

the fix I think is to disable cloud saves, find the steam cloud save file and delete everything in it + make it read only. Then the message will go away
