Game Crashed and Save is Gone

About 4 hours into the game it exited, after reloading my save is gone and I can only start a new game. This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid

this happend to me too. all i have is a autosave from an earlier time to load now. its hours away from what iv'e done.

I had to fully restart after 5+ hours of gameplay

Same here, lost 10 hours and all saves are at the first VAT mission!

Same here... not even corrupted. Straight up deleted. How in the ♥♥♥♥ do things like these even happen in 2018? I was in the main menu not even doing stuff, next time I look at the screen, application is not responding.

Has nobody bothered to think about Steam cloud being a possible issue here? it's not a great port after all, unfortunately. Perhaps they implemented it poorly.

what the ♥♥♥♥ I just lost a 70 hours save are you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ serious I'm 3 achievements away from 100%.

I was about to come in here and create a "make a backup save file, trust me" thread, since I had just this happen to me; tried to open my inventory and it crashed to desktop. When I went back in, that save file was gone.

My backup one was still there though, so that's thankful (I absolutely loathe forced autosaves in games, so I'm reduced to swapping between save slots or making copies of the game files in WAY TOO MANY games these days).

While not the worst I've seen, SO is kinda buggy all over.
