It's designed that way. The more you build up your skill combos the more musical elements kick in until everything is hyped. If your skill level drops, the music goes away. You gotta keep moving and building skill.

Completely false. It cuts out mid cutscene. OP, I have this same issue.

I have the same issue. So far the only solution I have found is to select "Restart Last Checkpoint" in the menu. Seems to be a temporary workaround :|

1:21 and it doesn't start afterwards even tho the combo is built up.

I appreciate your opinion but what I said was not "false". It may be unrelated to the OP's issue but it is a feature of the game.

But I will completely retract it as a possible solution and say I was wrong to assume so.

I have played A LOT more of the game on PC since posting my original comment and I will say that YES, THIS IS A BUG (if Blind Squirrel are reading take note), the music will just not trigger correctly even at high skill combos. Which kinda leads to a lot of "dead" moments.

Hopefully, they can figure this out. Otherwise, I'd just turn down the music altogether and stick on a Spotify playlist while I play (not ideal).

Can confirm that this has happened to me, too. Generally the music does come back after playing for some time, but it's still really lame when it happens.

Yup, no idea how they managed but the music triggers at incorrect (AND inconsistent) times when building up combos.

I've heard the music is supposed to start playing so long as you're in a fight even WITHOUT style and the music is supposed to progress dynamically as you fight through the horde seeing as each song seems to have the following sections:

Start: When encountering a horde or entering a fight/Building up style outside of fights
Instrumental loop: When already in a fight (Or a hectic area i'd assume) with no style or low style
Vocals kick in: When style meter rises above 2 (Or 1, i havent checked)
Song kicking into "overdrive" before ending: When the wave of enemies is about to be wiped out or if you're leaving an area full of enemies.

Now all of that is fine and dandy but it seems that the script for encountering hordes and fighting doesn't trigger properly sometimes, while all the other sections and scripts for each song works just perfect.

So why some ppl say to not have this problem? A friend too played the whole game and didn't encounter this... can it be something related to PC specs?

From what I've read (I don't own the game yet, waiting for this to be fixed) the issue is there for everyone, it's just that, as usual, a lot of people just don't notice issues like that and will claim that it doesn't happen for them. You can see the same things with people playing on console too, if a game performs poorly on console, you will have someone saying "it runs perfectly fine for me" while it's still the same performances as for everyone.

Yeah, i guess so, if you just run from one mission to another it's harder to notice it, but if you go free roam it's just broken... I even waited one month after release for grab the physical version ( which is beautiful btw) but the game is still broken :(
Yeah it's been about 5 years and this bug still ain't fixed, real pain too because the ost is great
