corrupted save files and constant crashes
I've uninstalled and reinstalled this game numerous times and every time I boot it it tells me that all of my save files are corrupt and the game crashes completely after the opening cinematic sequence.

Basically the game doesn't work with steam's cloud saves anymore. Disable that and delete the steam cloud file (Edit: Don't delete your save files, just the steam file in there) from your saves folder (AppData/Local/Sunset/Saves or something). That will fix that corrupted save file error.

Don't know if that will fix the crashes, but give this a try first. Good luck, mate.

Yep, the game is not working anymore. Knowing the problems with steam cloud I disabled it BEFORE installing the game but still shows me the corrupt data anyways. Trying the sugested methods didn't work.
Also the game crashes randomly when you try to save or to change the options midgame, sometimes even on the intro.

Does the devs still read this? Can you fix it?

The fix for the corrupted save file doesn't work if you just delete the steam_autocloud.vdf file in the c:\users\appdata directory. You need to physically edit that file with a text editor (word pad) delete the entire contents of the text that is in that file, than save the file and set it to read only. Also disable Steam Cloud Sync for this game so it doesn't try and redownload that file

Oh my god thank you so much for this. I tried every fix and deleted steam_autocloud.vdf multiple times but it always came back upon reopening the game. Just tried this fix and no more corrupt save message.

Did this work for you?

I've found that running directly from the .exe in the install folder, rather than launching from Steam, fixed the problem for me after making sure that .vdf file was deleted. Have to have Steam open, but otherwise it stopped that corrupted file from continuing to show up.

Any solutions for the random crashing? I don't have the issue with the corrupted save anymore, did the .vdf troubleshooting listed above. Anyone able to help?

if you fill the save slots with your saves the crashes stops

This is the proper solution. Thanks.

Doing both of these fixed the crashing for me, the corrupted file message still shows up but doesn't seem to effect anything and the game had played fine ever since. (I've only played for about 20ish minutes so I don't know if it's a super long term fix but it seems like it is.)
