A new bug. corrupted Save.
As the title states a few days ago I got an error saying a save was corrupted. the games loads fine however going onto the load/save causes the game to crash.

I Don't think it has anything to do with my manual saves, they load fine.

Seems to happen whenever that Casset Tape icon appears.

  1. Disable Steam Cloud via game properties in your library.
  2. Go to C:/Users/<username>/AppData/Local/Sunset/Saves/<ID> and delete steam_autocloud.vdf inside it.
The issue is generic and is caused by one of the recent Steam updates. The save files themselves are not corrupted, it's just that Valve Data Format config somehow became invalid and prevents the game from properly loading them.

It's a shame really, I was really enjoying the game.

Getting this as well. I loaded the game FOR THE FIRST TIME and it said my save was corrupted. I have never even played it. Got a new game going went to save the game from the menu game shut down. started game up again it says save was corrupted but my auto save file was still there but on the load game screen it shows corrupted save. Okay so I delete the corrupted save and start playing again and once again game shuts down on the stupid save/load option.

I Don't think is has anything to do with the saves honestly, I keep getting a new one called -CORRUPTED DATA- in a slot I haven't used. so the bug must be making new saves

Try reading at least first couple user posts. There is already thread about the issue.

Thanks! I'll try this when I get on!

Happy Holidays!

It happened to me, but in my case I had multiple save slots and it only effected just a save slot.
The other save files are in perfect condition so far, and I played for a couple of hours.

Same here. Cannot believe this hasn't been fixed yet. WTF Insomniac???

Yeah, I'm also having this problem. Worse still is that I just got the game and I legitimately cannot start as whenever the cassette tape shows up the game flat-out crashes.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Have this problem too but i can just play the game normally. No issue beyond the pop-up at start up, but that's a minor inconvenience.

You've fixed my game a million thanks!

Can confirm it worked. Just wanted to add that the game had to be running for the fix to work. Deleting the file before launching the game doesn't work because it is generated upon starting the game at some point.
