Antivirus Issues / Game not Launching
Hey Sunset players!

We’re seeing a larger than expected number of reports from people being unable to launch the game. We’ve done some digging and it seems like a lot of these issues are stemming from Antivirus interference. We’re working to get the game whitelisted with the AV systems that we know are causing problems, but we want to make sure that we aren’t missing any. Take a look at the list below, and if you are having issues with a different antivirus system please let us know at SO-beta@microsoft.com*. We’d also love to know if you are getting a warning that your AV is interfering, it should say something like this – “Warning: A running process may be interfering with the correct operation of Sunset Overdrive. This may be caused by anti-virus software, malware, game overlays, or other active processes on your PC.”

• Comodo Antivirus
• TrendMicro Maximum Security
• Avast Free Antivirus
• AGV Antivirus Free
• Bitdefender Antivirus Free

While we work to get the game whitelisted on a larger scale we do have a workaround for those with TrendMicro, follow the steps below if you’d like to give it a try:
1. Open the Trend Micro main console by right-clicking on the Trend Micro icon in your taskbar and selecting Open the Main Console
2. Open the Settings Menu
3. Select Exception Lists and then Programs/folders
4. Click the + Add button and then Browse
5. Paste this into the File name box: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SunsetOverdrive
a. Note: If you chose to install the game on a different drive, change the path to match which drive you installed the game to.
6. Click the Open button, this will add the path your Exception List
7. Click OK to save your changes & close the Exception Lists window

And what about game not launching because of RAM lack, or lack of cores, vram, detecting integrated GPU and other stuff? Will you guys fix this? I really want to buy the game and play but if it wont launch whats the point. :steamsad: I got an i3 4150, 6 gb of ddr3 and rx 570 4gb and I'm pretty sure my rig can handle this game but again, if it won't launch what's the point.

How about Win7 graphic problem?I know its not officially supported but plzzzzzzzzzzz.Really like this game.

Just remove the specifications checker, please. It's really not working properly since I've seen people with very similar hardware, some get the check error but can play and some get the error and can't.
I have low ram but I still want to try since I wanted this game for some time, but I won't buy it until you guys fix this.

Glad to see this being addressed, it is quite a big issue. Maybe related but I noticed today that the sunset.exe file is recognised by NVIDIA Control Panel as “Sunflower” not Sunset Overdrive, as you’d expect

Note to paid Bitdefender users:
You need to add the exception under "Advanced Threat Defense".

Yeah sure but what about the box that closes your game? im pretty sure that my pc can handle the game.

Since disabling all and any thing that might interfere with the game (that includes the antivirus) doesn't help, just getting the game whitelisted might not be enough for some of us.

It would be nice if there was an actual error message, which there isn't for most of us with this problem.

Added to my Bitdefender firewall. Didn't help. When I hit Play, it will say "running" by the game name for about 5 secs, then stop. No message, no game screen, nothing.

Just tried the beta version & still the same lack of anything.

I wonder if we all have hardware similarities that might be causing the issue?
