48 Hours In Stopped Playing
It got REALLY boring. There was almost nothing new. Linear exploration of areas killed the fun. Minimal unlocks, or interesting stuff to do. Boring gear and skills. No reason to gather many materials past watching a building disappear. I'll be coming back after a break, absolutely burnt out for now. Not going to negative review it, it's a good game... but can't see too much reason to finish it any time soon tbh. I was going to plat it, but the aim now is to trudge through some time and just simply finish it.

The linear exploration is frustrating. If it wasn't for the already resolved tomb walk throughs for the big blue ball, I would have quit long ago.

Yeah. I quit for a few weeks when I was trying to get to the jungle temple down South. I ended up everywhere but. I don't particularly like having a massive open map, with only one way to go. It just got full figuring out the correct order. Construction with houses is really boring. Destruction for materials is purposeless after unlocking the skills etc that unlock very fast. Right now I'm West, after taking the train. I just don't want to play it anymore, it's boring and tedious. I think end game is fairly empty. I'm not fully end game, but I've unlocked most things. There's not much else to discover and nothing interesting happening.

I just started the underground dlc and you talk about linear and lack of fireplaces and being stuck down here to you complete it. This will be my final resting place I'm afraid. I will never make it out before i quit.
Don't even start the dlc unless you have extra big blue globes to stop the respawning after rest at a campfires.
I'm done with this linear s h i t game the dlc did me in ..........only one way to get there and it is not this way or that way, Oh yea you need 4 lumber. DONE!
Need a gas mask to disable 2nd tower in DLC ♥♥♥♥ OFF! Can't even make it.
\You should not be aloud down here until you can make it so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Gonna leave a bad review!

Yup, the game becomes too tedious. For me what killed the fun was that i got really tired of the lousy inventory management. All the time switching tools, and going into the inventory to change one for another, to then realize i got the wrong one, etc and then you forget you changed one tool and you forget to change it back. I try to launch a grenade, and i cant cuz i forgot to change the grenade back. Things like that. I got really tired.

Also wanted to complete the dlcs first.. cant. Cuz you have to complete one of the main quests first on the main map to complete the pet dlc. So whats the point of unlocking the last pets basically at the end of the game??? i barely going to use em at that point.

And other things. I have the game parked for now (i only have left one region to explore but i just cant anymore) and i return to it when i have the will.

Yeah, they went for more size than quality content. Great game but it needs a reason to carry on after a certain amount of time to not to become a drag. Maybe more ways to destroy the zombies like traps and stuff.
I might get the DLC to se if that brightens it up.

Yeah, I just tried playing again. I hate it. It's boring, there's no reason to collect anything, it's obnoxiously unspecific about where to go next, ("Go to the relay," like what one? Let's play a guessing game.)

Anyway, I hate the movement. I find it awful that you need to keep toggling run. With the helpful run option on you have to repeatedly click it always. Why not just let auto run... geez. It's not like the game would be any easier haha

Uninstalled. Maybe in another year I'll finish it... don't see any reason to though. Really boring, same same gameplay, same enemies, not much new.

Will still recommend this game to players... it's a good time waster... but after almost 50 hours... boring.

Yeah, I did ALOT of exploring and destroying. But then it got boring, I had stacked items. There's no reason to destroy things where I'm at, (far west in the snow and ice area, no spoilers.)

I do aim to return one day, but even after not playing for 3 months, I'm still really over it. I remember starting out, I was excited to do everything, destroy everything and unlock all the trophies.

So what do you say to someone who played this game for 1133.5 hrs ( so far ) and am presently at level 177 ? I actually restarted the game twice. The first time voluntarily and the second time due to my stupidity. I have done Ascension fully, i.e.: run thru each zone three additional times and am presently doing Ascension in the officially supported replay option starting at the initial game start ( unfortunately the Boss battles and the tombs / underground bunkers are not reactivated! )
I LOVE THIS GAME! It is an easy way to relax after a tiring day. There are a lot of players who enjoy grinding and I am one of them. It may not suit you but then less than 5% of the games that I bought on Steam are played regularly by me. ( The two other games that I am presently playing are "Master of Orion" with over 4K hours and "War Thunder" that I started plating 230 hrs ago ). Both of these games require grinding in order to get ahead.
BTW I played Elder Scrolls Online from the Beta onward for 6 years with approximately 8K+ hours on it and only dropped it because the DLCs constantly kept blowing the maps and add-ons every time a new one was released and it became a pain to always re-install them. The software app became useless in those situations!

I don't mind if you like it - that doesn't affect me at all. I'm quite clearly not hating on the game. If you read my comments, I'm not actively steering people away. I'm just talking about my experience and opinion with this game, on its relevant forum. It's not a black and white situation where I'm not with or against you, or the game itself.

I'm also very clearly stating that I myself like grinding in games. That's actually why I am disappointed in the game, as stated above. I was excited to grind this game and collect things, destroy all towns, build a large, pointless, well laid out base, blah blah blah. Unfortunately it just got really boring. I unlocked stuff early, as I grinded, then there was nothing to do, or it's the same thing too many times. I was excited to fish all spots, get all bonfires, destroy large towns, find all timed crates blah blah blah.

I've read posts and reviews, and the game becoming stale is a common view point from players though.

I don't have any criticism about you enjoying the game man. I'm really glad you enjoy it. I actually think this game is a 50/50 game where half like it, half don't.

Thanks for the reply. I misunderstood so I will apologise. I won't say that it is a perfect game for everyone and don't expect everyone to like it. Case in point I recently played Age of Empires IV but dropped it as it was too hard to get started but had great "eye candy". My nephew, who is 30+, loves it. I prefer AoE II instead. Everyone has different tastes. I started gaming on pcs shortly after "Eye of the Beholder" was released way back in 1991 and became hooked on computer games ( I was 39 at the time ).

Im having a lot of fun with my nephew with this when im home in my country, been playing since like 2022, we finished the story and we dipped a bit into every dlc.
It was pretty boring alone tho.
