If you've beaten the game though you already know where you need to go. You already know how to do things efficiently. You're just going through the motions to get the gear back. When I finished the game on the first save and decided to get the surreal key my second save it was trivial.
In my opinion a new game+ run should give you the option. Few examples like Dead Space, Dark Souls, God of War games, and a few Castlevania games. You start anew and can enjoy your goodies all the way through, or you can leave them in a box and not use them.
However I'm also taking into account how you have to access new game+. You've beaten the game by this point, and you have end game gear. You then have to fill the ark unless you've done it prior. Then have to trek across the entire map and hunt down every infected in each district, and ascend each tower. Neither of which is difficult, but almost as time consuming as the ark. Granted this is also much faster with the campfire fast travel.
I just find I keep going back to my other save pre-new game+. Like I said though I also spend a lot of time dismantling because I find it satisfying. To this day that sledgehammer is still my best friend. Even now I can hear that rhythmic thumping.
NG+ is not about efficient.
No one is wrong here. Some dialogue changes were noted, however still don't think the entire process was worth it.
All in all, I'd say that the NG+ is geared toward those people who just want another round at the game with some added benefits or another try at the surreal door. The new dialogue is nothing too big, but does offer some small insights.
Crown to.
