i can't find a button to change the portal location
how to do that?

I think it always leads to the campfire in the new, open area. (It is kind of over-powered as it stands*. And having the one side fixed avoids needing a new interface for just that one item.)

* Not that I'm complaining about that.

what powered if it's entirely useles? it leads to a place super far away from the fast travel stations there is no reason ever visit that place again and it leads to a place which is not hte one where you already have all crafting stations and a farm set up

You can move the crafting machines there. And even set up a farm there (although that costs some resources, of course, since you need the platform and seedbeds).
I still think it is a bit over-powered, since at any time on the surface, you can quickly go to a safe spot and have direct access to all your resources, and even a campfire. Then you can go back to where you came from.
So while it would be nice to be able to place the endpoint anywhere, it sure isn't useless.

why would i want to move my crafting stations from the fast travel network to some boonies?

and what's overpowered about it if you already just go to a fast travel station and teleport to the station nearest to fireplace? and now can build a crate anywhere

Considering you can use it anywhere on the main Island it's more or less a base in a pocket.

need some lumber? Warp home set some to craft, use door it spawns to warp back to do some more exploration, then warp back home later when it's done.

Just got the fish you need for a recipe? Warp home, use the oven, use the door to warp back.

Want to craft an upgrade, but don't want to rest at a campfire and don't know where the nearest workbench is? Just warp home, and use the workbench you have made there.

What makes it OP is fact you consolidate a lot of machines, crafting stations and farming plots in to one very easy to reach location w/o having to use a campfire or a link tower, with a very easy way get back to where you were.

i'm post end, so i'm more interested in going places than returning to the base

Why I bearly used it. The update has little value for post end game saves prior to it, personally same goes for the DLC itself too. And in that case the Campfire triangulation upgrade is better suited for that, as you get more places to fast travel to. but I found that lacklustre too as I've done almost everything, and what's left idk much about.
