MacOS crashes
I am running MacOS 11.1 on a MacBook pro (2018). I've been playing the game for 112 minutes and it has crashed 7 times. I've tried reinstalling, I've restarted multiple times. What else do i need to do?

I you meant 4 crashes in 4.5 hours, that sounds like a lot to me. And 1.0.1 is indeed the correct version. We pushed it to main branch quickly as it should definitely be more stable. There could be some other reason for the crash though. We'll keep investigating!
I've played for 3 hours today and had 8 crashes. 3 of them within a half hour.

I you meant 4 crashes in 4.5 hours, that sounds like a lot to me. And 1.0.1 is indeed the correct version. We pushed it to main branch quickly as it should definitely be more stable. There could be some other reason for the crash though. We'll keep investigating!

1 an hour for something that is fresh out of beta on a platform that is known to be super awkward to game on - I'm not calling 1 crash an hour bad. Can see some people on here have it way worse than me. Happy to keep posting logs into here if it works (and am on the Discord as well - if there is a beta branch, I don't game much but am happy to try it and see if it works etc.).

Thank you for the reports! The crashes do not seem to be tied to any specific position or play time, so the theory is that they're multithreading issues with the audio system. Sounds are played pretty much anywhere and any time. The same sound system is being used in our previous Mac and iOS games too, but I guess this game simply stresses the system a lot more (or something). It'll help once we get this bug nailed down in the debugger again. (We've got an AI player that plays the game like on autopilot on a couple of macs, so it'll catch this crash too eventually. Just hoping that the frustration about these crashes isn't the reason why it'll enslave the mankind.)

No worries - is very weird as it has been all over the map but the 3 in 30 minutes were in the camping area headed south towards I think it was a house and a timed chest. I'm happy to carry on posting them up if that helps at all but agreed it doesn't seem to be a location or event specific problem.
Should I keep submitting reports in the app? I've probably submitted like 40 in the last 2 days and I don't know if they actually help or are just clogging up the inbox
Yes that was just my concern as well - don't mind adding them but am wondering if it hinders more than it helps (especially as it doesn't seem to be location specific).

Have now done it with audio disabled - crash log and game log - not sure if this was what you thought worked as a temporary fix?

Thanks! No need to report more of these issues until we update the build again. Usually it's good to get several crash reports so we can figure out what's in common with them, but we have a pretty good idea at the moment.

Oh and simply turning music and sound effect volume slider to zero doesn't disable the sounds. It still needs to play them in silence so that it knows what's playing in case you restore the volume at some point. Adding the NO_SOUND feature to prog.xml file "features" list removes all the sounds, but you need to edit the app bundle so it may not be feasible. Looking at that log file it's still initializing the OpenAL sound implementation:

Also playing with no sounds is not a solution to anything really :)

Cheers - my fault. Didn't quite understand the sound workaround lol. I won't post any more logs until there is another build. Am on the Discord as well (was the person that volunteered to do some testing in the middle of last week) so am happy to try and run things if it helps.

There's a new build 1.0.1.5 available now in all the macOS branches in Steam. Please verify that you're playing this version (the main menu version should say 1.0.1.5) and let me know if the crashes are gone! Our test code has been running for 18h without crashes now, so it's looking pretty good.

There's also automatic save backup now in place on macOS just to be on the safe side.
