The buried treasure locations only require a bees ♥♥♥♥ worth of perception to notice. It's stuff like arrows made of rocks, or a fairy ring, or a circle made of trash or an exceptionally prominent grave. All things that look out of place and suggest something might be there.
The only treasures that don't have some big signifier are ones that have a corresponding map elsewhere.
Run around some more outside of starting area, not just by roads. Dig spots are quite obvious.
