One final spasm of flailing my arms and pressing multiple controller buttons at once in frustration and I magically got past that screen. I don't know what specifically made it happen. I just hope I don't have to spend 20 minutes trying to get past that screen every time I play (I have only played once so far), assuming I can even replicate it.
@[250H]Ce_uNo_uvE: great post, explaining how you don't understand and proceeding to explain how to play the game... We are talking about the step BEFORE you are sitting in front of the book "reading". It is a notice regarding the game being played in a sitting position that requires you to lean and reach around so you make sure you have enough clear space.
The root of the problem appears to be that if your VR setup has base stations, the game is assuming you have an HTC Vive controller, and the only way to proceed is to "confirm" you understand that your play area is only small seated area. The problem is, the "confirm" button is pressing in on the right side of the trackpad, which isn't something you can do with an Index knuckles controller. Index trackpads are not buttons. So it is probably something unintuitively equivalent like touching the right side of the trackpad while pushing one or more other buttons and/or squeezing the grip sensor.
Seems like something that could have very easily been fixed at any point (like, literally just make the confirm button any button that is used in-game), but if it isn't fixed by now I don't imagine it ever will be. Wonder how much money they left on the table excluding people with base station VR setups?
addendum: im told this is a common thing in early games originally for the vive. on the vive controller it's the grip button. its mapped based on placement and the prompt not updated to tell index users what to do.
