Animal Pass?

Is the animal pass a season-by-season purchase? Like when season 0 ends, will the animal pass still be active through season 1 and future seasons, or is it like a subscription purchase where I have to re-buy it every season?

Each Animal Pass needs to be bought separately. Buying Season 0 won't give you access to other Seasons.
This also means that when a season ends, it is gone forever along with its exclusive rewards, and no further progress can be made on it.

Does that also mean the items I get from previous seasons will disappear as well?

The items you unlock during a season are yours to keep. When a season ends, you are just unable to buy it or continue your progress. This means that if you don't buy the season pass before it ends, you will also lose the items that are not free.

I think as the season ends we should be able to purchase levels with premium currency in case there is a cosmetic we are a few levels away from unlocking.

I am worried having joined the game only recently I won't be able to unlock what cosmetics I want on the season since there is no timer for how long it lasts, I hope its a while so I have time to unlock what I would like.

Season 0 is scheduled to end along with the exit of the Early Access (v1.0 of the game). This will happen in the first quarter of the year and the official date will be announced with time.

You'll have plenty of time to get to the top tier of season 0 with that amount of time, Bun. I myself have only been playing the game for about a month and I've already gotten through all 49 tiers of the animal pass. Cosmetics that are not in the Season 0 animal pass I'm pretty sure will be staying throughout the rest of the game. Am I correct on that, Cait?

Exactly!
The items that will become unobtainable in the future are:
- Current Animal Pass items.
- Starter pack DLC.
- Founder's Pack DLC.
- Codes from festivities (some of them may not return).
The items from Carl and S.A.W. shops are rotative and will make their return eventually.
