Bug Report: Dork Ring broken!

I found my first Dork Ring last night and equipped it, fully expecting to be called a dork, as is right and proper. Imagine my surprise when I was not called a dork, or in fact insulted in any way, just greeted with silence...

Emergency patch please!

I thought the same thing but I was unable to find any proof that this was really a thing.

In researching where I saw/heard it thinking it was real, it was a wiki that was edited like a month ago. I fixed it but someone probably changed it back. If a wiki was your source for thinking this is true, that's just some internet person being dumb.

If you have other sources please share, the devs DID want to see/hear it in the original version *IF* it existed.

The version I played back in the day (Atari ST) just shouted 'You Dork!' when you equipped it and did nothing else. It was memorable at the time because speech in video games was only just starting to be a thing...

I'm sure I had one originaly but it did nothing.

what I read (possibly untrue?) was that it was an item that did that when you did 'use item' outside of combat with the ring equipped

I've searched and searched and haven't found any video clip on an emulated version of this happening; if you got the emulator setup and a char editor for atari ST save files edit in a dork ring and see what happens, record it and let the devs know!

Ok. I've tested the Dork Ring in the atari ST emulator and it does indeed say "You Dork"
I've got a rough recording and will include it if I can clean it up enough.

I don't know... It's fun that the Atari ST version would give that message but I kinda like that it does nothing. Wearing the Dork Ring is just like wearing a silly accessory.

yah we got the actual atari st audio. Got the rom from Bards Tale Online, tracked down a version of "Steem Debug" that could actually run it and hacked the inventory to give me a Dork Ring. Had to record the sound on my phone coz fraps wouldn't run with the Steem Debugger but finally got it and it cleaned up nicely in Audacity. :)
