Fire horn = win every fight easily, at least early on.
Is there any point to having any other instrument but the fire horn? I did not use it for a while and when I finally did I was dissapointed in how powerful it was. It has limited charges but I hear you can just sell/buy it to get them all back.

fire horn, frost horn and flame horn are the ones u will be using mostly. other instruments are not really worth it.

and yes u can recharge them by sell/buy at Trevor´s.

Dumb guy here - how do I even use the fire horn? I took it off the defautl party members, and equipped it to my bard that I rolled up. But, how do I use it? And, what is so powerful about it?

This was a great feature in the original game, please don't change it.

I figured out how to use the fire horn.

i probs sold hundreds of fire frost and flame horns to trevor by now. they are only rare until u reach the secound dungeon, after that u get plenty-

theres worse things that need ur attention. like the mixed up rogue with BT I-III features working halfway but not quite as they should or would make sense.

Then perhaps Roscoe should have a service to recharge them

Please do so. Ignore the cheaters. :)

The change wouldn’t just be for fire horns, correct? Any device with charges (Lightwands, etc) would no longer be recharged by selling them and then buying them back if this is addressed in a future patch.

The exploit isn’t in the sell and buy...it’s that a level 2 pregen has an item you can’t get until you’re high enough level to explore the catacombs, and even then acquiring that item is random. Letting startng characters take out creatures of far higher level by taking that pregenerated character’s item is the exploit. Letting characters recharge level-appropriate items by spending money isn’t all that different from letting spellcasters bypass the normal SP recovery system by going to Roscoe’s.

There certainly needs to be a way to recharge items, otherwise you end in another "exploit" where people use an item until there is 1 charge left and THEN sell it, so they can use another one they found in the meantime with more charges.

FYI for 32 years nobody has complained about this

That's why you should delete the party of pre-mades and roll fresh without taking the gear. Makes the game more fun and interesting when you have a budget limit and have to manage your initial purchases. Then you have less gold for healing/spell recharge, so managing that becomes another challenge.

It makes the initial step from level 1 -> 2 better imo. There is a significant boost in your durability and combat prowess.

Oh, come on now. It seems like you're calling everything an exploit. It's not broke, MP, please stop "fixing" that stuff. There's more important stuff that actually impacts playing the game that needs fixing anyway.

But if you're really intent on doing that, then also "fix" it so that it doesn't drop a 50 charge item with only 12 charges. Yeah, yeah, it's "more realistic" that not everything drops totally ready to use. To which I say: this is a fantasy game, live a little. :steamhappy:
