The gameplay has taken such a downgrade compared to the first game. All missions are repetitive and the enemy encounter design is just bland AoE spam that doesn't feel fun or rewarding. The UI is cluttered with information and consistently blocks your view with bright pop-ups and flashy indicators that are just unnecessary. It's a shame that the game didn't come close to my expectations, I was really excited to play this game.

This game is patchably close to excellence but it is just off enough in so many ways that it is lightly frustrating almost all of the time. The game tries to push you to do a series of get in get out missions where you are riding just barely on top of the chaos, like Broforce, but unfortunately you rarely get above the chaos. There is so much going on at the same level of visual importance that the screen is often completely unreadable. There are a lot of fun character abilities and environment interactables but the levels are so chock full of them that you and your teammates are bounced around constantly and your efforts to regain control just land you on something new that moves you in an unexpected direction right into a new enemy explosion lather rinse repeat.

Some of it absolutely skill issue but some of it is definitely that the game's procedurally generated challenge wasn't thought through both in the moment to moment gameplay or in your overall learning curve. I'll keep trying to learn it and hope that some patches tweak the visual clarity and procedural generation in just the right way for this game to really sing, but in my first couple hours of play I'm pretty strongly disappointed.
