Just bought game and giving up
I am so, so lost in this game. No real instructions on what to do. Finally traveled to meet people but no idea how to get back home to sleep or what to do next. Anything I should be reading to see how to play this game?? Beginning to think I'm sorry I have spent so much money on this when I read reviews it was easier and more relaxing that Critter Cove which I find much easier to play. Really, disappointed :(

there is an excellent wiki for the game , but basically its a very relaxed no-pressure game, and you will get instructions on various aspects from the villagers. As for getting lost, you simply hit M to open the map and you can see the whole world, where you are and where the villagers are , zooming in if needed.
If you dont return to you home by midnight, you will faint and wake up in the morning back in your house and bed.
There is a tutorial in the game for basic play that the mayor tells you about, open the inventory and click the ?? icon at the top right,
To begin with you will salvage around for flower/seeds/berries and other foods on the ground as well as collect wood and stone. Talking to the villagers will not only teach you things but give you quests for them, which come with rewards and learning to craft new items.
Again there is no rush, the game story is long and it takes seasons and years to build up the town and meet everyone.
spend a few days gathering flowers/weeds/bugs, make fish bait from the bugs and go fishing (fishing takes no energy), sell some of the flowers and fish in your shop when ready, you only need to open the shop when you want to, but you need to be there to take the money from the customers early on, Later you can hire an assistant.
You can also always read the details on your quest (open inventory, its one of the taps)
Take your time. Relax.
Oh my goodness, here you are again helping me! Thanks so much, have dreaded going into the game but am writing down everything you said :)
glad I could help, ask anything anytime. You may also get a faster response on the GP discord channel.
In addition to what this person says, buy upgrades and talk to all the people often to unlock more fetch quests. It's basically a game of fetch quests, but I find it relaxing too.

If you traveled and can't get home, the time changes where you are, but resets back to where you left but like a couple hours later. It's deceiving so don' t rush back if you don't wish to. Most likely, you are on one of the other islands. Find your way to the boat and it will ferry you back.

If for some reason you ended up in the dungeon, keep in mine that part is completely optional, but does have some neat stuff within. try to kill the monsters and the next level will appear when you do. Collect all the loot too. every 5 levels I think it is is a save point. This lets you continue at these intervals.

If you don't want to go through, use your map at M and try to find your way around til you see a door in a rock. Both floors above and below are this way. shoot enemies with the wand if you want to fight and typically keep distance. The enemies have simple, learnable attack patterns and are only difficult when overwhelmed or fighting the bosses.

If you don't see anything to do during a day, collect, plant, whatever, talk to more people, purchase more upgrades or just wait. you can recover energy at the hammock at the cost of day hours. I don't use it, but it could prove useful min-maxing. No penalty for passing out. Use the full day if you can, but you can also sleep to pass the day as in other games.

Don't initiate dialog after 11:55 unless you really want to complete something. Boris sells backpack storage and has a questline to get more storage chests.

You can chop big trees for a chance for a log. Use these and a pretty good amount of the weeds or whatever the easy grass is to make basically free extra storage. Hoard most new items. they are often needed later in quests.

Don't go too crazy with the build area. The optimization is better than some, but free placing always adds strain.

There are other islands and you can build makeshift bridges to them.

Do Where's whatever his name is ASAP. Glider is a game changer early game. It's about the only way to get most fallen stars. They fall 22:00 or roughly around there. Don't forget to look up.

You can use the glider and bottles to more easily get butterflies. Bees can be caught too.

Somehow you can get milk from cows. I'm too dumb to figure it out, unless they have to be yours, but it's possible. Follow questlines. The chick on the island sells seeds. Eventually she gets you a great item to get nearly free seeds. She'll also commission something to make travel to her easier.

Bruce is your tree guy. Blacksmith is the top priority along with shop upgrade. Everything depends on money and tools. "Speak to me later" tasks aren't recorded. You have to remember or go find them and initiate convo.

Steal from the farmers. Even the poo. They don't seem to penalize doing it. you can get in even without a glider with a little basic parkour.

Hope that helps too.
Wow, a lot of info, thanks! Have written down everything so I can go back and read it as I play :)
you need to make a bucket to milk your cows, then approach the cows with bucket in hand. Once they are grown you can milk them once a day. Same goes for goats.
the Glider guy is called Alberto, and you meet him in the woods and need to climb onto the tree branch to get down his glider for him, and later when he moves to town he will have a series of quests to open his glider shop, If you collect butterflies, you will be able to get a glider that looks like butterfly wings, very cool.
That sounds exciting about the butterfly glider!
Oh my gosh how beautiful!!! Just took me two days to find Frank lol ... .I'm still a long ways off! Trying and trying to get into this game but will not give up :) If anything that picture makes me want to trudge on!
you can brows thru lots of my screen shots anytime,
Thanks will do that!
