Baby Axolotl

Hi!
Can someone help me with my baby axolotls?
If I open the habitats, they are shown to me as "hungry", and they don't grow.
However, if I walk over to them, the prompt says "Feed Axolotl (Full)", and if I try to feed them I get the message that the axolotl doesn't want to eat this.
I tried shrimp, then I tried several kinds of fish, I put everything in feed troughs, but nothing works.
It's not just one axolotl either, I have five baby axolotls now, all of them in different places, and none of them want to eat anything.
What am I doing wrong, how can I raise my axolotl?

That message means they do not want to eat that particular food. On any animal when you hold a food in your hand you should also see something like a thought bubble appear over the animal's head with a picture of a food, like with rabbits you'll see carrots, deer you'll see grass, fox the small fish, etc.

I have yet to raise them but I did tame one and its preferences changed daily, as it did not eat the same thing every day, so you may want to be on the look-out for that as well.

But that's the funny thing.
There is nothing shown over their head, not even the usual heart.
And they were supposed to eat shrimp, unless I remember something completely wrong.
The eggs did have a heart above them, and I could feed them shrimp with no issue. (Dunno how eggs eat anything, but they did.)
And there is also the "full" message next to the prompt to feed them, where it should say "hungry".
The more I think about it, the more it seems to me like I have some strange bug, although I have no idea how I managed to get all baby axolotl bugged. I never had any issues with raising animals before.

The baby axolotls eat shrimp. Open the habitat and drag and drop the shrimp over to each axolotl. it should just take one from the stack and show it as being fed.

There seems to be a bug that you can't feed them by hand. but the other method of feeding works for me. I'm not sure if the feeding trough works too.

I never knew this method of feeding animals.
This works perfectly fine!
The feeding trough works for the eggs, but not for the babys.
Dragging the food into the habitat seems to be the only way to feed them.
