House building

How extensive is the building? I have Staxel and the house customization is voxel based so it's nice to be able to make whatever I want, but from the video in this game they just plant like massive preset floors and walls which isn't very appealing to me. Can anyone shed some light on this?

As of right now you can craft individual pieces- ramps, walls with and without windows, platforms and some others. You can put them together however you wish. It's not as freely customizable as voxel based games where things are made from cubes but I think it's still pretty free myself. Similar to building things in Conan Exiles kind of.

Building is currently at a semi-basic stage. It's not voxel or block based, there are building pieces, such as walls, ramps, foundations, stairs, etc. Downside, it's not quite as custom, upside it's faster. Many, many times I have been building block by block and wished I had at least a wall section to lay down at one time. So, I find it fills that niche for me. :)

Building is one of the devs favorite activites, so it will definitely be fleshed out more at some point. They have already discussed paintbrushes that come with a group of colors or textures to put on your walls to customize along with other things.

The only reason it probably hasn't been more fully developed yet is that they did a player survey of features and although players admitted they want them all, fishing, cooking and dungeoning won the top votes to be fleshed out more first.

How is furniture and interior designing then? (If there is any?) If I can at least decorate it I think I may be okay with some what basic building for now..

There are basic beds, couches, chairs, tables, bookshelves. The wiki shows the items:

They have more themed furniture sets they want to create, but as I mentioned before the players asked them to further develop other features first.
