Game makes my PC shut down
Hi, so after 5 hours of gameplay the game started completely shutting down my computer (i9 9900K and 1080Ti). My drivers are up to date. I cannot get help from Steam because I can't get past the automated answering machine. There seem to be several threads on this on the internet, unfortunately none of that helped for me. Do you have any tips or how else can I ask for a refund? Is there a support form or contact? Thanks.

On Epic, game is running smoothly. So, reason is Steam.
UPD: no, on Epic is the same problem.

I have the same issue (except my pc does not shut down or crashes). My 2080's temperature gets high and I can hear the fans running at full speed during a few seconds

I have the same problem with a 1080TI and a i5 cpu. Game shuts down my PC after the tutorial mission. Reading through all of your comments I'll try lowering the resolution - wish me luck!

Hi, any fix for this?, it seems i keep getting a bsod when I use free aim (maybe aiming at the mist, as some other user, im not really sure)

can it be a memory leak of some kind? Lately, the pc shuts down when im in the geoscape, surfing between tabs. Im starting to think that unity engine can be the problem (Prodeus gave me the same until i put windowed fullscreen and vsync off, I remember satellite reign too having some problems, industries of titan does not even work, I get a shutdown when i start it, etc)

Folks, if multiple games or a stress test causes your machine to shutdown, your hardware is almost certainly at fault. Marginal PSUs are an extremely common problem.

(Software bugs in a game cause a CTD or bring up the Unity crash reporter. Blue-screen crashes are usually hardware problem, but sometimes driver/OS bugs can cause a BSOD.)

its always games with unity engine, and not all of them. If it was a hardware failure, what tests can i do to confirm wich part of the pc is failing?

Right now, im playing with lowest settings, and seemes that the game runs fine

Also, I may have explain it bad: its not really a bsod, the game crashes, screen goes black, and i cant do nothing except shutting down the pc and powering up again

Vendors like Dell and HP have hardware diagnostics which you can run for an initial sanity check. If you want to perform a stress test, run both Prime95's self-test and Furmark or MSI Kombustor overnight.

That's a black-screen crash. The usual cause is the PSU became too hot under load and allowed the CPU voltage rail to sag outside of spec, resulting in the system hanging.

Hi, nothing to do with hardware, this is a thread with problems with games using unity engine:

https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/7/2254560552302022403/?ctp=3

I tried putting off overlays, specifically, radeon software and discord, and I played a bit of PP (maxed out in ultra, full screen, native resolution), and seems that is working. Anyone having issues with PP or other unity engines, please go to this thread and try the various solutions they are giving

Also, if having issues with crashing and having to turn off and on again your PC, try uninstalling Onedrive. Lately, I've been having the same issues on other games. Events visor gave me this:

No se pudo iniciar la sesión "Cloud Files Diagnostic Event Listener" por el siguiente error: 0xC0000022

Uninstalling Onedrive fixed the issue

but noticed gpu high temp if i aiming thru fire. definitely something wrong there with shaders.

If you're getting high GPU temps thats a cooling problem not a game problem

Dude, there are 10000 games out there that don't crash these PCs and only Phoenix Point does. So why the hell should it be a hardware problem then? Phoenix Point isn't even a game that requires a high-end PC.
I played this game over 160 hours before and now, that I have installed all DLCs, the game suddenly keeps hard resetting after the loading screen when starting a new game. So I think it has to do with the DLCs.
